THE NEW RULES
Based on AOC's bragging about using TikTok teenagers and K-Pop fans to reduce the headcount at Trump's rally in Tulsa, some new rules are evidently in effect:
1. Any rally with a headcount < 6200 is a miserable failure.
2. Foreign interference in an election is now totes OK.
3. Voter suppression is also totes OK.
4. Abusing the ticketing system to intentionally deny people the ability to hear the politician of their choice is "a form of protest" and is thus totes OK.
5. A candidate being 10 points ahead in some poll 5 months out from the election is absolutely dispositive.
6. Millions of online viewers count for nothing.
7. Stacey Abrahms is the rightful governor of Georgia (this is always true).
Oh, and here's one more reason I am thankful for President Trump: In 2001, we were thrust into a national emergency because, as they say, "some people did some things." And what did we get out of it? Another big expansion of federal government. It could have been handled by the Department of Transportation, or if the idea is to keep foreign terrorists out of the country, that falls within the purview of the military and the CIA. Domestic terrorists? That's a job for the FBI. But no, we got the the Department of Homeland Security and the TSA, a massive new layer of government bureaucracy that appears to be nothing more than a jobs program for the marginally competent. And it's never going away. And this is in addition to the trillions of dollars spent on wars on foreign soil and thousands of American lives lost, but that's a discussion for another time.
My point is, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, any other president would have created a whole new federal department devoted to containing biological and virological threats. Never mind the fact that we already have the DHS and the CDC and other federal agencies that can take care of this, as Trump is demonstrating daily. No, this would be yet another permanent addition to the already swollen and overgrown fedgov org chart.
Anyway, like I said, Trump didn't do this but appears to be letting the existing governmental agencies handle the pandemic, and for that we should be grateful.

Friday's Who Dis: In the late 1970s, the first three novels in author John Jakes' Kent Family Chronicles historical series were adapted for TV. Andrew Stevens and Kim Cattrall were the two main characters in the first and second films, The Bastard and The Rebels.
Fun fact: Andrew Stevens is the son of the babelicious Stella Stevens.
