Moviegique will be along later with the movie thread. As always, the chess/dress pr0n thread is an open thread, so there is no such thing as an off-topic comment.
Pic Note
Unfortunately, from what I've been able to determine, today's hottie isn't any titled player, she's just a model doing a chess-themed photoshoot.
Beginner Problem - Black To Play (1141)
Black can force a mate in 2 moves, but there are 2 winnings line. Find both.
Hint: Bust the position open with a rook.

1r4k1/5p2/3p4/2pPpN2/p3P1P1/P6r/KPRQ1B2/5q2 b - - 0 1
Intermediate Problem - White To Play (1142)
Goal: White can force mate in 4
Hint: Tricksy, tricksy knights!

2r2rk1/2q2ppp/3n4/p3N3/bpn2PN1/3R2Q1/PPP1R1P1/2K5 w - - 0 1
Advanced Problem - White To Play (1136)
How should White play this position? You don't have to play it out to mate, just show how White obtains a yuugely superior position.
Hint: Take away Black's main weapon

Problem Solutions
Beginner Problem - Black To Play

1r4k1/5p2/3p4/2pPpN2/p3P1P1/P6r/KPRQ1B2/5q2 b - - 0 1
1...Rxa3+
2.bxa3 Qb1# 1-0
The second line:
2.Kxa3 Qa1#
Intermediate Problem - White To Play

2r2rk1/2q2ppp/3n4/p3N3/bpn2PN1/3R2Q1/PPP1R1P1/2K5 w - - 0 1
This is a straightforward mate in 4, but sometimes beginners have trouble with knights, which can ge a bit tricksy:
1.Nf6+ Kh8
2.Qg6 fxg6
3.Nxg6+ hxg6
4.Rh3#
Advanced Problem - White To Play

3k4/3n4/1Pp5/1p6/8/2K4B/P7/8 w - - 0 1
There are undoubtedly a number of winning lines, but the shortest, most direct to victory lines all start with this:
1.Bxd7! Kxd7
I always make it a point in games that are transitioning to the endgame to visualize what the board would like that with all of the pieces gone, only kings and pawns, and is it to my advantage? If it is, then my strategy is to see if I can make it happen.
2.Kb4 Kc8
Or 2...Kd6 3.a3 c5+ 4.Kxb5 c4 5.Ka6 c3 6.b7 Kc7 7.Ka7 Kc6 8.b8=Q and wins.
3.Kc5 Kb7
4.a3 b4
5.axb4 Ka6
6.b5+ cxb5
7.Kc6 and wins
Hope to see you all next week!

Note: that cryptic line of letters and numbers you see underneath each board diagram is a representation of the position in what is known as "Forsyth-Edwards Notation", or F.E.N. It's actually readable by humans. Most computer applications nowadays can read FEN, so those of you who may want to study the position, you can copy the line of FEN and paste into your chess app and it should automatically recreate the position on its display board. Or, Windows users can just "triple click" on it and the entire line will be highlighted so you can copy and paste it into your chess app.
