'Rona Roundup

FDA approves lab-in-a-box test that can deliver Rona Results in five minutes.

he FDA has scrambled to allow numerous COVID-19 tests in a bid to control the pandemic, but one of the latest may represent a big step forward in technology fighting the disease. Abbott has received emergency use authorization for a variant of its toaster-sized ID NOW lab-in-a-box that can provide positive results in as soon as five minutes, and all-clear results in 13 minutes. On top of this, it's one of the few tests of its kind that can be used outside of a hospital, such as at a clinic.

Another French epidemiologist says that the chrloroquinine + z-pac treatment gave him a 100% cure rate with 80 patients.

His study was merely observational -- there was no control group. He was treating people medically, not really conducting a scientific experiment.

So this isn't proof.

Still, it's bizarre to see the media and the Ruling Class join to attack his findings so fiercely, even talking up the Fish Tank Cleaner murder, I mean, death.

Dr Raoult, whose theory has been taken up by US President Donald Trump, said his new study of 80 patients showed that four out of five of those treated with the drug had "favourable" outcomes.

He had earlier reported that after treating 24 patients for six days with hydroxychloroquine and the antibiotic azithromycin, the virus disappeared in all but a quarter of them.

The research has not yet been peer reviewed nor formally published in a medical journal.

No stranger to controversy, the colourful scientist with shoulder-length blond hair and grey beard, insists that the Chinese pulmonary expert Zhong Nanshan observed a similar pattern.

- Results questioned -

Raoult's critics have pointed to problems with the protocol of his testing and worrying side effects of the drug.

Fakemed, a group of scientists against fake news in health, lambasted the 68-year-old professor.

After Raoult released his latest findings on the internet over the weekend, Professor Francois Balloux of University College, London, tried to dampen talk that the drug could be a silver bullet.

"No, (this is) not 'huge' I'm afraid," he said on Twitter.

"This is an observational study (i.e. not controlled) following 80 patients with fairly mild symptoms. The majority of patients recover form #COVID19 infection, with or without #Hchloroquine and #Azithromycin treatment."

Statistician Tim Morris of the university's clinical trials unit was even more scathing.

"If hydroxychloroquine turns out to be useful," he tweeted, "it's a shame that this group will be praised as heroes and prophets instead of held to account for the misinformation and self-promotion they've been churning out at a critical time."

Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, which is often sold as Plaquenil, have been hailed as a potential "gamechangers" by Trump, but US government experts are as yet unconvinced, with Dr Anthony Fauci, the head of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, calling the results so far "anecdotal".

At least one person has already died in the US after self-medicating with a non-pharmaceutical version of the drug used for cleaning fish tanks.

It feels like the kneejerk reaction is based less in science and more in OrangeManBad -- Trump's for it, so we must be agin' it.

But his report was enough to push Italy and France to greenlight prescribing the cocktail for treating coronavirus.

The FDA has likewise authorized the cocktail for use against coronavirus.

On Sunday night, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an emergency use authorization for hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine, drugs often used to treat malaria and recently touted by President Donald Trump as a possible "game-changer" in the fight against the China-originated novel coronavirus, or COVID-19.

A New York doctor says he used the chloroquinine + z-pak + zinc sulfate to treat 699 patients, and reports a 100% "resolution" rate.

Last Wednesday, we published the success story from Dr. Vladimir Zelenko, a board-certified family practitioner in New York, after he successfully treated 350 coronavirus patients with 100 percent success using a cocktail of drugs: hydroxychloroquine, in combination with azithromycin (Z-Pak), an antibiotic to treat secondary infections, and zinc sulfate. Dr. Zelenko said he saw the symptom of shortness of breath resolved within four to six hours after treatment.

Now, Dr. Zelenko provides updates on the treatment after he successfully treated 699 COVID-19 patients in New York. In an exclusive interview with former New York Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, Dr. Vladmir Zelenko shares the results of his latest study, which showed that out of his 699 patients treated, zero patients died, zero patients intubated, and four hospitalizations.

Dr. Zelenko said the whole treatment costs only $20 over a period of 5 days with 100% success. He defines success as "Not to die." Dr. Zelenko first posted his Facebook video message last week calling on President Trump to "advise the country that they should be taking this medication."

Again, that's not a study. There's no control group. It could be that all 699 patients would have lived with or without treatment. (98-99% survive coronavirus, so it's not implausible that all 699 might have lived even without the cocktail.)

Still, this report is consistent with the cocktail being a cure. Not proof of that, but consistent with that. Certainly, these reports are not inconsistent with the cocktail curing coronavirus.
