Josh Hawley and 14 Other Senators Introduce Motion to Censure Charles Schumer Over His Threat to Supreme Court Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh

And Andy Biggs introduced a similar resolution in the House.

But that one Nancy Pelosi can block by simply never scheduling a vote.

I don't think anyone could, or would, block a vote on the Senate resolution.

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer may become only the ninth senator in the body’s history to be censured by his colleagues.

Lawmakers in the Senate and House introduced resolutions to censure him Thursday, a day after Schumer made inflammatory comments that seemed to some to advocate violence if two Supreme Court justices did not rule his way in an abortion case.

Mitch McConnell read him the riot act on the Senate floor (video below the fold).

He makes the indisputable case that Charles Schumer is lying about what he said starting at 2:20. At 6:30, he talks about the "thousands" of threats against judges the US Marshals have to track every year, and suggests that Schumer's words will spur unstable activists to become new threats.

Soon after, he talks about the attempted assassination of Steve Scalise and other Republicans by a leftwing Bernie-supporting MSNBC-watching lunatic.

Schumer then used the opportunity to agitate further against the Supreme Court Justices, saying he was only animated to speak by his passion for abortion.

Well he didn't say "abortion," of course. He said "women's health" or something.

He refused to apologize and refused to concede he had made a threat or even had spoken recklessly. He would only allow the standard "I cannot help it if you were offended by my words" nonapology, stating, "I should not have used the words I used yesterday. They did not come out the way I intended to."

You said the same basic thing three times -- you said exactly what you intended to say.

Even Mitt Romney isn't c*** enough to defend Schumer:

Former press secretary for Hillary Clinton's failed 2016 campaign and current member of "Demand Justice," Brian Fellow, I mean Brian Fallon, said that Trump's suggestion that two politically biased justices should recuse themselves from cases involving the administration was an assault on our judiciary just last week, but yesterday, was positively thrilled to see Chuck Schumer threatening the Supreme Court.

We're still waiting on this, but I'm sure it's coming soon:

Sounds like a job for J.V. Last.

Speaking of c***s and people who keep doubling down:

Church Lady Ed Morrissey yesterday laughed away reader beliefs that Schumer had crossed a line with his statement. The Sage of Minnesota opined that because Schumer was not in a position to actually murder the judges, it was a no harm, no foul situation.

He ignored his readers repeatedly bringing up James Hodgington 3rd. I believe he still refuses to admit this important bit of data.

He then issued a preemptive dismissal to his readers who disagreed, stating that his contract didn't require him to act like a snowflake about threats against the Supreme Court just because Democrats do.

Today, of course, with even Mitt Romeny -- Mitt mother-c**king Romney -- stating that his was a threat, this ovoid soy transportation module discovers he extended himself too far in his attempt to appear to be a Reasonable Conservative who is Ready and Right For CNN Panel Duties.

Like Schumer, Morrissey never says he was wrong or spoke too hastily.

No, today he has a new insult for readers with the temerity to find his cuckery egregious -- his new claim is that he just wasn't politically opportunistic enough to seize on Schumer's remarks.

I tip my hat to both Hot Air readers and to Cocaine Mitch, all of whom grasped the political opportunity Chuck Schumer presented better than I did.

Let me translate: I was right, and I'm still the one who is Principled and Truthful, but I didn't grasp (being too Virtuous to do so) that there was Political Opportunity to be mined here, seizing on and pouncing on this good civil servant's remarks.

If Ed Morrissey has a fault, it's just that he's too honest and Principled to be politically opportunistic.

Unlike you thugs of low character and animal cunning.

I swear to God, sometimes I think these guys must fart Febreeze and piss Sunny D, so pure and wholesome are they.

I'd like to ask Ed Morrissey -- if he thinks it's silly to think that threats delivered by a political figure could inspire mentally unwell followers to try to deliver on those threats -- why did he permit Hot Air to publish this extended excerpt of a screed by Rick Wilson claiming that "of course" Trump's rhetoric inspired Caesar Syoc, the fake pipe bomb threatener?

This is why we need to look objectively at Trump's role in this affair. No one in American political life has even a fraction of his power to inspire behavior and action. No one. It’s time we recognize that Trump's unique social media presence is a weapon of radicalization. No one else in the American political landscape stokes the resentments, fears, and prejudices of his base with equal power.

Trump always misses the chance to be bigger and better. He never fails to close the door on opportunities to be a consequential leader and not a winking, simpering buffoon who holds the title but never wears the mantle of the presidency. As we saw after Charlottesville, his defiance of every American norm and his eagerness to "both sides" every argument is an extended middle finger to our republic.

What’s shocking about what we've seen from Sayoc’s social media feeds is just how ordinary they are in the Trump online ecosystem. The slurry of conspiracy theories (particularly all things Soros), birtherism, xenophobia, boomer memes, and MAGA spank-bank material in his Twitter and Facebook feeds is the raw distillate from Infowars, Breitbart, and Fox.

Strange which cases of possible incitement are dismissed out of hand, and which are taken as Important Matters of National Debate.

And it's also weird that... Ed Morrissey's thinking very closely tracks the thinking of hard-left political partisans, who always suspect that righties are just one word from pulling a trigger, but leftwingers can say whatever they like without every inspiring anything but Diligent Voting Behavior.
