Four Democrats Defect as Virginia Gun Confiscation Bill Is Kept Comfortable While a Conversation Is Had About Whether to Kill It

Virginia Democrats schemed to seize people's guns -- not even with a "buyback" payment of money to cover the cost of the seized property.

They were just straight-up going to seize citizens' property without compensation.

And they were going to arrest those who didn't gladly turn over their property to the state.

But four Democrats got cold feet at the last moment and voted against the illegal assault on the citizenry.

That doesn't mean Virginia Democrats have given up their gun-control agenda entirely. They have other bills in the works, including a limitation on handgun purchases to one a month and a red-flag bill, which will also energize their opposition. However, this was the crown jewel, and Democrats fumbled it into their own bathtub drain. It’s going to be tough to get swing-district votes in either chamber to remain whipped into support after this.
