Mark Hemingway: Why Does the Media Fill Its Airwaves With the Commentary of Bitter NeverTrumpers, Completely Ignoring the 90% of the Party That Supports Trump?
Update: And...
I didn't see it, but Les Kinetic says the GOPe/liberal shill Brett Baier seemed to agree with Goldberg's claim.
It is just a coincidence -- but an inevitable one, given FoxNews' NeverTrump/liberal proclivities and determination to stock every pond with NeverTrump fish-- that Bret Baier will once again stack his panel with two NeverTrumpers against one Trump supporter (Mark's wife Mollie) tonight.
Or three NeverTrump liberals if you count Brett Baier himself -- former college roommate and BFF with Steve Hayes.
Which I do.
And Trump supporting Republicans are entirely absent from CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS and ABC of course.
Hemingway starts off with a funny recounting of Max Boot's latest Deep Thoughts. I'll skip that, but you should read it at the link.
Before his obsessive opposition to Trump erased any sense of perspective, Boot was an impressive author and journalist. [Was he really though? -- ace]
However, his recent output makes one genuinely wonder what he did to earn such a coveted gig at The Washington Post. The answer appears to be that Max Boot is NeverTrump. Indeed, Boot's rise from respected-but-marginalized neocon to the forefront of political commentary neatly dovetails with his opposition to Donald Trump.
Outside of the Beltway, Republicans and conservatives steadfastly opposed to Trump are a small minority -- more than 90% of Republicans approve of the president. Yet, judging by the column inches and TV appearances being doled out, NeverTrump Republicans might be the most overrepresented demographic in America.
Nearly 63 million Americans voted for the man, and it's an indictment of the media that they are unwilling or unable to find anyone who speaks for them.
Aside from Max Boot, the Post’s roster includes Jennifer Rubin, who's another special case.
Right. He notes that Jen Rubin still insists on calling herself conservative. Here's her Twitter bio, for example:
@JRubinBlogger
Conservative opinion writer at @WashingtonPost, MSNBC contributor. "If right doesn’t matter, we are lost."
And yesterday, this "conservative" writer called conservatives... Nazis.

The impeachment trial underscores the degree to which the right is in no shape or form conservative but authoritarian.

Of the million pretend-Republican NeverTrumpers in America, exactly half of them have paid contributor gigs at PBS, CNN, and MSNBC. That's a pretty nice inducement!
As he says, it's an "indictment of media" -- they are supposed to cover the news in the public interest. In fact, for the terrestrial broadcast networks, they are given their bandwidth free from the government (and from The People), but only if they present an objective news program deemed to be "in the public interest."
But they're not acting in the public interest -- just the interest of the narrow caste of #Woke White Liberals such as themselves.
By refusing to permit any conservative commentators on, they're showing their ass -- they're not trying to inform the audience with a broad spectrum of diverse opinion.
They're trying to dictate to the public what the Only Acceptable Opinion is.
