The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition
Free Speech is such a quaint and underused right...until it is taken away, or in this case threatened with the full weight and power of the government. If anyone seriously believes that Canada is a free country, then read this article, and you will immediately be convinced that it is not.
But Ezra Levant is defiant, which is the only way to respond to the jack-booted thugs of a rapidly growing police state.
Trudeau's Elections Commissioner is investigating me for writing The Libranos, so I taped the entire interrogation
I wrote a book called The Libranos: What the media won't tell you about Justin Trudeau's corruption.
Justin Trudeau did not like that.
So just after Christmas I received this letter from the government by registered mail, accusing me of breaking the law, and demanding that I meet with investigators — and if I didn’t, I’d get in deeper trouble.
Lest you believe that it can never happen here, it already does on a large scale on government institutions in every state. Public universities and private universities that receive government funding (essentially all of them) have trampled on their students' free speech rights for years.
And so called "campaign reform" is simply thinly disguised government control over who says what.
But don't forget "hate crimes!" Whatever the hell that is. I can punch you in the nose and get six months in county jail for assault and battery. But if my motives are suspect? 10 years in federal lock-up!
There is much more...our fundamental freedoms are under attack from the Left, by unelected bureaucrats with a lust for power, by our political opponents with access to government power (IRS anyone?), by the elitists in Silicon Valley who control so much of social media and who would not hesitate to muzzle anyone with the temerity to speak freely. The list of those banned by FaceBook and Twitter is long, and growing every day.
What to do? How to fight back? These are the questions we try to answer, but one thing is certain...if we don't push back we will lose. We can no longer rely on the courts to protect our most precious rights.
So flip off a cop, mock a city councilman, sneer at our politicians in the letter to the editor, and in all venues exercise your freedom of speech. It's like a muscle...don't let it atrophy.
