CNN's Debate Performance Was Villainous and Shameful

The 24-hour network combines a naked political hit with a cynical ploy for ratings

Although Lee said she based the story [leaked to CNN by Warren herself, claiming that Sanders had told her a woman couldn't win] on "the accounts of four people," they were "two people Warren spoke with directly soon after the encounter," and "two people familiar with the meeting." There were only two people in the room, Sanders and Warren. Lee's "four people" actually relied on just one source, Warren.

If this sounds familiar, it's because it's the same construction that’s driven countless other shaky stories in the past, from WMD reports to Russiagate speculations. An unconfirmable hearsay story is conveyed by one source, who gives the reporter the numbers of two or three other people in the office who've heard the same tale from the same place. Voilà: A one-source pony is now factual "according to several people familiar with the matter."

In fairness, as you can see from that quote, Taibbi has noted CNN's shabby serial lies for some time.

But still, Taibbi said "This is an unusually vile performance by CNN."

What's unusual about it? Hit pieces, clickbait deplatforming campaigns (monetizing the assault on free speech) and completely fictitious smears planted by outfits like Fusion GPS has long been CNN's venomous stock-in-trade.

But other leftwingers are simply shocked to find out that CNN is nakedly partisan advocacy organization which pretends at being a journalistic endeavor.

The Nation’s Elie Mystal raged, "J*** Chr*** I hate these biased questions from the moderators. 'How would you keep your plan from bankrupting the country?' JUST ASK THE KOCH BROTHERS TO MODERATE NEXT TIME!" HuffPost’s Zach Carter griped about CNN's post-debate panel discussion, "CNN's crew is just straight bashing Sanders post-debate." The New Republic's Libby Watson whined, "CNN is truly a terrible influence on this country."

Hmm … Where have we heard that before? Oh, that's right. Conservatives have been making the same point for decades, only to be sneered at by progressives who insisted that such claims were conspiracy theories. In reality, it has long been obvious that CNN operates more like the PR department for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) than a legitimate news outlet.

This is the lesson the Left should learn from CNN's performance during Tuesday night's debate. When progressives turn a blind eye to unfair media coverage of conservatives and Republicans, they set their own candidates up for similar treatment. When they tacitly approve the unethical behavior of people like Donna Brazile, Candy Crowley, and Abby Phillip, the Left empowers a corporate beast that will pick up their scent sooner or later. It has no ideology beyond money and power, and it will not lose its appetite when their opponents have been digested.

One interesting thing I've picked up on is that some members of the anti-identitarian left -- people like Sh0e On Head -- sneer at what they call "neoliberals," which would include people like CNN and Warren Sanders. The sort of #Woke, very affluent white liberals who dominate the liberal political establishment (and the conservative political establishment as well!)

Maybe we just have to destroy all the neo's, whether neo-liberal or or neo-conservative.

Speaking of neoliberal identitarians: Watch leftwing feminist and Affirmative Action moron Julia Ioffe admit that feminists have pushed #MeToo not because of fears of rape, but because they want an "I WIN" card they can pull out in disputes with men:

Ah yes. The fight against rape and sexual abuse is ultimately about the greater cause of, "Women get to win all Twitter arguments Because Vagina."
