Lawfare Blog Owner: The Horowitz Report Really Embarrasses Us and Hurts Our Credibility

Very few of these liars are admitting such things.

Lawfare blog is an important link in the Russian Hoax Human Centipede. Fusion GPS, James Comey, or Benjamin Wittes sh*ts some sh*t into their mouths, and they feed, and they then sh*t it out into the mouths of their twitter followers.

Even they're walking away. (* Mostly.)

The co-founder of the prominent intelligence community blog, Lawfare, admitted that a recent report from the Justice Department inspector general on FBI FISA abuses for Trump campaign surveillance has destroyed their own credibility.

On a Thursday podcast hosted by Stewart Baker, a partner at the Washington office of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, the blog’s founder, Bobby Chesney admitted that the damming report from the DOJ IG documenting FBI abuses and vindicating the infamous Nunes memo on the discredited Steele Dossier alleging Russian collusion has been destructive to his publication’s reputation....

"I feel like all of us, who, you might call us the 'Lawfare crowd' who were often denounced or criticized at least in the older days as being too quick to credit and too trust the good faith and completeness of the efforts of the FBI in this kind of context. A lot of us look bad right now and we're sort of watching anxiously to see how the broader OIG investigation sheds light on whether this was a one-off problem or a broader problem but there's not question that a lot of our positions don't look as persuasive as a result of how this has turned out."

But don't worry, True Believing Maniacs! Lawfare's executive director (segment 11 in the Russian Hoax Human Centipede) is preparing to feed the lesser-ranking units some more colonic gruel.

Even as Lawfare admits how wretched its credibility is now, organizations formerly associated with the conservative movement continue refusing to admit their own naivete and complicity in spreading slanders -- National Review praises Jonathan Turley for issuing an apology on behalf of the establishment media, while still refusing to acknowledge its own important role in spreading smears against Carter Page and Devin Nunes, or to issue retractions to demonstrably false (and libelous) prior columns.

Rich Lowry praises Turley's apologies -- where's National Review's?

This rather reminds me of National Review after the Covington Kids slander, when they chided the media for attacking the kids without evidence.

Conveniently overlooking their own role in the same witchhunt.

AFAIK, to this very day, Jonah Goldberg refuses to acknowledge he retweeted a tweet attacking the Covington kids.

Just didn't happen.

As David French's various columns endorsing the lunatic Russian Conspiracy Theory just didn't happen. All figments of your Trumpian imagination, haters.

Is this now National Review's default position?

Are they just pretending, as David French does every few months, that they never published false claims at all?

That's f*cking slander, you know. You're calling Carter Page a Kremlin agent -- and you're apparently doubling down on the charge.

Do the rules of transparency and honestly only apply to the neoliberal/neoconservative union's enemies, while they hold themselves immune to any accounting?

BTW: Why is it up to outside critics to demand retractions and corrections from National Review?

If they had any integrity, there would be no chance to demand they retract nasty slanders -- because they already would have retracted and apologized.

But that's not how The New National Review rolls.

Trumpism Corrupts, they said, as they lied and refused to acknowledge or correct past lies.

You don't have to chase down a man of character to pay his debts -- he'll seek you out to pay his debts.

And you don't have to chase down an organization of integrity to retract and apologize for past fictions and conspiracy theories. They should have done so within a day or two of revealing the new information. (Well, not so new, but they've been pretending for so, so long.)

But you do have to chase down a dishonest man for repayment of debts.

And you do have to chase down the National Review for the most basic, most fundamental act of intellectual hygiene and institutional honesty.

But they keep dodging your calls and pretending they're not home when you knock on the door.

Say, fellas --

When's your next cruise?
