Who Is the Best Two Hit Wonder Band?
Two hits. No one ever thinks about the Two Hit Tyros. Once you have your second hit, a lot of people just forget about you.
For some reason, one hit wonders tend to be remembered.
It's hard to define what a One Hit Wonder is, and I imagine it's even harder to say what a Two Hit Tyro is.
Almost all "one" hit wonders technically have a second "hit," because the record company releases another single in the wake of the first big hit and the second song gets huge exposure and airplay and even charts. A bit.
But it's really just an obligatory follow-up release. It's not a hit on its own merit. It's a "timeslot hit," as they used to say about TV, when there were timeslots.
I mean, even one of the ultimate One Hit Wonders, The Knack, actually had a second semi-hit in the wake of My Sharona.
But pretty much I'm the only person in the world who even remembers their "follow-up hit," Good Girls Don't (But I Do). It's pretty much just me and Alan Hunter.
So anyway, if there's already argument about which one hit wonders are really one hit wonders, there's going to be twice as much argument about two hit wonders.
Still.
Easy Andy proposes Golden Earring as the best two-hit wonder band, with Radar Love in the 70s and Twillight Zone/Bullet to the Bone in the 80s.
Are there others?
As usual, this is a thread for discussion and debate only; no dueling or knife-fighting.
