The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition
The stupidity and partisanship and ignorance of the fourth estate is on glorious display here, and it highlights President Trump's point. This is bullshit fake news, it twists the facts to support the political opinion of the author and editor (and the whole organization), and it is insinuatingly critical of the president
Bulk of Trump's U.S. farm aid goes to biggest and wealthiest farmers -advocacy group
More than half of the Trump administration's $8.4 billion in trade aid payments to U.S. farmers through April was received by the top 10% of recipients, the country's biggest and most successful farmers, a study by an advocacy group showed on Tuesday.
Highlighting an uneven distribution of the bailout, which was designed to help offset effects of the U.S.-China trade war, the Environmental Working Group said the top 1% of aid recipients received an average of more than $180,000 while the bottom 80% were paid less than $5,000 in aid.
The EWG, a Washington-based non-profit, said it obtained data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture through Freedom of Information Act requests for its research, the results of which could not be independently verified by Reuters.
This astoundingly stupid analysis of some possibly real data ignores math. Well, not even math...just arithmetic. Because the intellectually challenged journalism-major-because-sociology-was-too-hard didn't bother to calculate the trade payments per amount sold, which is the only number worth a damn.
Apparently we should be making these payments independent of the actual monetary losses incurred because of the tariffs, and instead just sort of fling the cash around willy-nilly and hope it reaches the correct people. Actually, the author of this steaming pile of bullshit masquerading as reporting wants to satisfy his masturbatory fantasies of a socialist utopia, and pay each farmer according to his need.
The big farmers probably sold more stuff, so obviously they are going to be compensated more. But we don't know that, because there actually isn't enough data to make any sort of conclusion about this topic, other than Reuters is a pathetic excuse for a news organization.
By the way, Reuters handed a podium to "EWG," which sounds suspiciously like an environmental pressure group with a clear bias. Anyone care to guess who funds them? If Soros and Co. isn't in the mix I would be shocked!
The insinuation is that large corporate farms are somehow evil, and they are stealing farm subsidies from deserving small farmers. Well, I am no fan of farm subsidies, but if Congress wants to change the way the laws are written, then they can. And for all of the scorn heaped upon big farms, they sure do pump out a huge amount of food at ridiculously low prices. Our agriculture industry is unbelievably efficient, and feeds us and many people around the world with far fewer inputs than even a generation ago.

My Twitter Feed, which is even more boring than usual because I was suspended for a week; apparently, "Kill A Commie For Christ" is hate speech.

[do I really have to say that it is a joke, and obviously incorrect?]
