The Morning Rant
"Progressives have long ago hijacked the terminology of 'rights' that the writers of the Declaration of Independence used when they described 'certain inalienable rights' that every human being posesses just by being born a human being. Doesn't matter when or where you were born, if your parents are rich or poor, and no king or government has the right to take them away from you (without due process). The DoI lists 3 of these rights, (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness) and the preceding words, "among these are...", hints that are other rights not listed. So progressives have used that little bit of ambiguity to shoehorn in their entire agenda so that everything they want, every little whim, magically becomes a 'right'. So, taking their cue from the Constitution of the USSR, housing is now a 'right'. Health care is a 'right'. Employment is a 'right'. Abortion is a 'right'. And that last one is especially pernicious, because they're not talking about 'freedom to have an abortion if I want one' but rather 'I want an abortion and you have to pay for it.' And now we can see the end result of the progressive corruption of language. Because if someone else has to work to pay taxes to pay for someone else's abortion, that's slavery. Of course, every one of the current crop of Democratic candidates, from Hillary Clinton on down, believes not only in the 'right' to healthcare, employment, and abortion, but also that it is the federal government's responsibility to make sure that every nose is blown, every bottom is wiped, and every sharp edge and corner covered with a thick layer of Nerf. And no matter how benign they try to make it sound, the end result is, as one moron once put it, Trigglypuff sitting on a human face, forever."
