The prosecutor in the case admits that Smollett was guilty as hell, and yet not even required to admit guilt in a no-time plea deal.

They don't care. They're Untouchable.

Michelle Malkin has a fireball of an article on "Obama's Fixer Tina Tchen."

And that brings us to the Democratic operatives behind the scenes. Two weeks ago, Chicago Sun-Times reporters discovered that Obama crony pal and deep-pocketed campaign finance mega-bundler Tina Tchen had inserted herself in the investigation. Tchen texted Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx just three days after the incident "on behalf of Jussie Smollett and family who I know" to express "concerns." She suggested that Foxx lean on Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson to yield to the FBI and she shared an unidentified Smollett's family member's cellphone number with Foxx.

Foxx texted back that she had done as requested and that Chief Johnson was "going to make the ask." The unidentified relative rejoiced: "OMG this would be a huge victory."

Only after Foxx meddled did she recuse herself and name an underling to take over -- which rendered her Kabuki recusal meaningless to veteran observers of the "Crook" County criminal justice system. So, who was the Smollett relative with all the right (or rather, left) connections? Follow the trail:

--Tchen and Smollett's sister, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, joined together in March 2018 at South by Southwest in Austin to proclaim that "There Is No Time's Up Without Women Of Color."

--In May 2018, Tchen and Smollett-Bell took the stage together again -- hand-in-hand, glued at the hip -- at the United State of Women Summit in Los Angeles (where Tchen's former boss and gal pal, Michelle Obama, also appeared).

--Smollett-Bell and another sister, Jazz Smollett-Warwell, worked for the Obama campaigns in 2008 and 2012 and volunteered as tireless surrogates.

--My search of White House visitor logs shows Jurnee Smollett-Bell paying at least one personal visit to "POTUS/FLOTUS" at their residence in March 2013 while Tchen was serving as a top strategist to both Obamas.

To minimize Tchen's role in the Obamas' political lives as merely an "aide" is journalistic malpractice.

And she has more. The State's Attorney in this case, Kim Foxx, got into office thanks to... George Soros. He has a lot of organizations which are attempting to -- and succeeding at -- placing far leftwing "social justice" DA's into place (and far left Secretaries of State -- to count the votes in elections, doncha know).

Foxx got $400,000 from Soros-connected organizations in her election bid. (States attorneys in Illinois are elected not appointed.)

From John Sexton at Hot Air, these three big points:

1. Kim Foxx says everyone charged with 16 felonies gets treated the way she treated Smollett. (Spoiler alert: she's lying.)

2. Internal emails show that Foxx directed her staff to search the databases to find anyone given the same sweetheart, no-consequences-at-all gift she gave to Smollett, for the obvious purpose of trying to make her lie kinda-sorta not a lie. Apparently that search did not come up with anything.

3. She claims that the purging of this case from the database just must have been some kind of mistake. She did an oopsie!!!

Finally, remember, she claimed she recused herself from handling this case.

But apparently it was a Loretta Lynch-style "I'm going to say I'm recusing myself and let a subordinate be my front-man but I'm going to retain decision-making authority" non-recusal.

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx did not "formally" recuse herself from the Jussie Smollett case -- she only did so "colloquially," prosecutors said on Wednesday.

A "colloquial" recusal? What the hell is that?

As John Ekdahl pointed out, the words "recusal" and "colloquial" have never before been used together in the English language, because no one uses the word "recuse" colloquially. It's almost entirely a formal legal term.

This is a way to explain away her lie -- when I said I was recusing myself, of course I didn't mean I was recusing-recusing. I was just speaking of a Colloquial Recusal. You know, that thing that does not exist and never has existed.

(Except for Loretta Lynch.)

The revelation about Foxx's recusal comes amid mounting questions over prosecutors' sudden decision to drop all 16 felony charges against the actor.

Foxx "did not formally recuse herself or the [State’s Attorney] Office based on any actual conflict of interest. As a result, she did not have to seek the appointment of a special prosecutor," Keira Ellis, a spokeswoman for the state’s attorney's office, said in a statement to Patch.

But Ellis clarified that Foxx's recusal "was a colloquial use of the term rather than in its legal sense."

She was vague about why she recused herself -- or fake-recused herself, as it turns out. As Michelle Malkin points out in that post linked above, it's probably because she did favors in this case for former Michelle Obama chief of staff Tina Tchen, who turns out to be Besties with Smollett's sister.

If I had to guess, I'd say that Tchen got Foxx to speak directly to Smollett's sister and Smollett himself to plead their case connections.

Lie better.
