CNN: Trump's Attempts at Forging a North Korean Peace/Denuclearization Pact Are... Officially, Intentionally a "Distraction" from Cohen Testimony
This is CNN:
It is the official "news" position of This is an Apple CNN that the North Korea talks, which were scheduled months ago, are a "distraction" from the fizzlefart of the Michael Cohen testimony, which was scheduled weeks ago.
This moment of split-screen politics raises the question of whether major progress overseas can save a president from his political problems at home.
Would Trump's ability to broker a durable and verifiable peace deal -- one that has remained elusive to numerous presidents -- to formally end the Korean War, nearly 66 years after an armistice was signed, overshadow the intensifying investigations that his administration faces? Can President Trump pull off the ultimate distraction, not one that revolves around a provocative tweet but instead one that is based on a genuine breakthrough in foreign policy?
The NeverTrumpers still trust CNN. Not a single one of them will dare embarrass their Very Good Twitter Friend Jake Tapper by asking him to comment on CNN's very strange framing of the North Korea talks.
Trump, of course, walked away from the talks when North Korea started playing cutesy and saying it would only denuclearize the sites they knew we knew about, but not the sites they didn't know we knew about.
Which caused an immediate change of Panic among the leftwingers and NeverTrumpers (but I repeat myself): they suddenly reversed themselves, as Doc Zero put it, from fretting that Trump was doing too much to get an agreement to far too little.
