"Each student was allowed to submit a certain number of pictures that they wanted to appear on the page with their graduation photograph," said Elwood. "They chose their own pictures, they were submitted in a sealed envelope with their name on them, and the only time that envelope was opened was when the layout was done on their page."...

"In my personal knowledge and the people I knew that were working on the staff, we went through great pains to make sure that there was not a mix-up," Elwood said. "To my knowledge, nobody complained that their picture ended up on a different page."

Also claims that the blackface photo was not of Northam but of a guy named Smoot are also total bullshit. The photo some seized on of Smoot wearing similar plaid pants to Blackface Guy was actually from high school -- so, the claim would go, this guy kept and fit into the same pair of pants he wore in high school all the way until Northam's last year in medical school and also chose to wear them at a party at Northam's medical school?

Smoot also says they were not in close contact past high school so how would he even get invited to a medical school party?

There is not yet, as far as I know, any explanation as to how the New York Times decided to enlist itself among the Blackface Denialists.
