LinkedIn Founder Says He's "Sorry" for Funding Group That Spread False-Flag Fake-Russian-Bot Disinformation in Alabama Senate Race
If you missed this story, a Democrat-funded firm did an "experiment" which they admit was a "false flag" effort to create fake Russian Bots -- not real Russian bots, but fake ones that they invented -- to create a story that Russia was trying to get Roy Moore elected (and thereby help the Democrat Doug Jones, after the inevitable media freak out.
But they claim this was just an "experiment" and that they did not intend to actually interfere in an American election.
This firm was funded by a billionaire founder of Monster Tech company LinkedIn.
So here's yet another Monster Tech billionaire interfering and colluding to undermine the heart of American democracy-- and, I promise you, paying absolutely no price for it at all.
Billionaire Reid Hoffman apologized Wednesday for funding a group linked to a "highly disturbing" effort that spread disinformation during last year's Alabama special election for U.S. Senate, but he said he was not aware that his money was being used for this purpose.
Hoffman's statement is his first acknowledgement of his ties to a campaign that adopted tactics similar to those deployed by Russian operatives during the 2016 presidential election. In Alabama, the Hoffman-funded group allegedly used Facebook and Twitter to undermine support for Republican Roy Moore and boost Democrat Doug Jones, who narrowly won the race. Hoffman, an early Facebook investor and co-founder of LinkedIn, also expressed support for a federal investigation into what happened, echoing Jones' position from last week.
#ButMuhPrivateMonsterTechBillionaires.
Who's gonna fund the next Weekly Standard if we hold these guys' feet to the fire?
So they have to be given a pass.
