The Morning Report - 10/15/18

Good morning kids. Monday and I feel like a million... a million pieces of poo. All day allergy attack yesterday continues and the Allegra I took last night just makes me feel like a rung out dishrag. Anyway, I'll muddle through somehow as there are things happening that are worthy of attention. I'll hit those as best I can and then let the headlines and my parenthetical snark fill in the blanks.

First up, I think it's fair to say that Portland, Oregon is rapidly devolving into anarchy and then a far-leftist anti-American "no-go zone." The mayor, Ted Wheeler is not only doing nothing to quell the terrorist Antifa thugs from taking over the streets but is openly standing by his decision to do so. I think part of this is a calculated decision on his as well as Democrat Party leadership to goad the President into perhaps calling in the National Guard to restore order. I think the violence that will no doubt ensue is intended to both alienate the GOP base as well as fire up the Dem base as we head into the midterms. The X factor in all this is some punk-degenerate-whitebread-basement-dwelling-Pearl Jam-listening stooge who fancies himself the second coming of Che Guevara will not be told what to do by Wheeler, Merkley, Wyden and whomever else and just declare Portland no longer part of America. Frankly, I favor a Rachel Corrie solution to this but that may be suboptimal... for now. In any case, all of the aforementioned took an oath to protect ALL the citizens by upholding the law and the US Constitution. Oh, wait. Never mind. And on the other side of the country, while Bernardo Sandersnista refuses to disavow and/or condemn the political violence and intimidation coming 99.9999% from his side, Deserae Morin, a Republican running for a seat in the Vermont House of Representatives, has received vile death and rape threats from someone claiming to be a "socialist."

The other big story continues to be the fallout with this Jamal Khashoggi Washington Post correspondent who went missing in Istanbul and has been presumed to have been assassinated by the Saudis. While the media here and abroad is desperate to use this as some sort of cudgel to beat the President with and perhaps split our alliance with the KSA, some interesting developments have come to light. It turns out that Khashoggi is not only vehemently opposed to the reform-minded young Saudi Prince and his agenda, he is/was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, has a connection to Osama Bin Laden and, surprise-surprise! the mullahs in Iran. All things being equal, if that is the case, then the only think I would criticize the Saudis for would be their "handling" of this individual. Actually rather surprised that the evil weather-controlling Jooz weren't blamed... yet. Stay tuned. The other big foreign policy story is, of course, the release from Turkey of American hostage Pastor Andrew Brunson who kissed the American flag and prayed with and for President Trump in the Oval Office.

Some quick hits before I plotz, Kevin McCarthy is definitely moving ahead with a bill for full border wall funding, ramped up enforcement and other things (I wonder what really is in the bill) while at the same time decrying the Soros, Steyer and Doomberg for using their money to interfere with the legitimate political and governmental processes. Too bad he neglected to mention the Koch brothers whores in his broadside as they are now openly pimping for open borders and complete opposition to the President's policies. Funny how the IRS never seems to go after those guys.
