I have the dubious honor of being represented by the stupidest senator in Congress. Yes...Cory Booker is the new champion and receives the Barbara Boxer Trophy For this year. And...I believe that I am also represented by the crookedest senator in Congress -- Bob Menendez -- so New Jersey gets the gold and silver medals in the "Politics Is Broken" competition

I cannot imagine a legislative body that is more embarrassing than the United States Senate. Oh, there are videos of representatives duking it out, and obviously the majority of the world doesn't have free and fair elections, so they are...I guess...worse. But among the legislative bodies of the free world, is there any that is a more unpleasant combination of arrogance and sheer, unbridled idiocy, ignorance and stupidity?

Regular readers may know that I am no fan of American policing and its hyper-militarized departments, its "Us Against Them" attitudes, the disgusting "thin blue line" crap, and its uncanny ability to draw power-hungry sociopaths to its ranks. But this has always stumped me. What is the point of shooting a dog? The vast majority of dogs can be cowed, and the ones that can't can be thumped with a nightstick. It does occur to me that maybe he isn't as malign and rabidly-leftist as he seems, that maybe he really is just so profoundly stupid that he thinks he is being rational and intelligent instead of sounding just like a stupid freshman at a third-tier junior college.

I am no fan of the smarmy little backstabber, but he makes a good point.

America has one duly elected president. Anybody serving at his pleasure should do so faithfully. When they feel they no longer can, they should resign & speak in their own name so the country can evaluate their insights with a full understanding of where they are coming from.
