Kurt Schlichter: It's Time to Purge the #FakeNews Conservatives

He's not wrong.

After noting the treacheries of Flake, Corker, and Ben Sasse...

Insufferable sissy Sasse is everything that is wrong with the Republican Party establishment. He's boring, sanctimonious, and utterly lacking any accomplishment except for distinguishing himself by running his fool mouth about Trump to any enemy outlet that will listen. Sasse poses as one of us, and even wrote an unreadable book mouthing a conservative critique of our crummy culture. The first line is, and I'm not kidding, "Sheryl Crow rocketed to stardom in 1996 on the strength of a single paradox." If I ever write something that awful, please hunt me for sport. In any case, his tiresome tome illustrates the problem: He writes a book about the culture war then gets his panties all in a bunch when we elect someone who is finally willing to fight it.

These guys need to go because they aren’t interested in winning; they are interested in maintaining the status quo. Conservative, Inc., is all about talking and not fighting -- after all, if we win the cultural war, who needs them to write about it anymore? Victory means the donations dry up, and they'll have to get real jobs like us Normals. That just won't do.

By the way, my dream is for Ben Sasse to write an epically fussy review of Militant Normals in the dying cruise trip brochure that is The Weekly Standard which I can then proudly wear like it a medal. Let me help start if off: "This vulgar ruffian Kurt Schlichter is not who we are, and his book made me cry because he was mean to George Will."

...until we complete the purge, we'll have treacherous elements within the GOP who should ‘fess up to their embrace of liberalism but can’t because then they would be totally cut off from their cushy gigs.

The problem is not people with criticisms of Donald Trump -- he's not an ideological conservative, so we need to keep him focused. It's the people who hate the Normals who now use the GOP as their vehicle for representation. They should depart. We're seeing a great sorting -- to put it in terms millennials can dig, think of a Harry Potter Sorting Hat that says, "Hmmmm. You won’t fight hard to defund people who are killing babies, think it's cool to diss the flag at football games, are happy about non-submissive conservatives being silenced by liberal tech companies, write stuff no one reads, and have strong opinions about Star Trek. Yes, you are Never Trump. I know you want to be GOP, but you are a Democrat."

The magic hat is right -- they are no longer Republicans, and when they pretend to be, they misrepresent who we really are.

Hmm, I wonder who he means by those who have "strong opinions about Star Trek"?

By the way, before the election, some NeverTrumpers called for a purge of those who actually wanted to defeat Hillary Clinton, rather than install her as president for 4-8 years.

For example:

Noah Rothman claimed he didn't want such a purge -- but did want Trump supporters to be "made to" confess and denounce their prior heresies. And if they didn't -- the obvious implication is that they would then be purged, because he calls this confess-and-denounce requirement a "modest" "price of admission."

Once they confessed their wrongthink and swore allegiance to the Cruise Ship Wing of fake conservatism, they would be re-admitted with probationary and junior status:

Republicans need to start thinking about the fallout from 2016 and how to heal the lingering divisions from a fractious year defined by internecine conflict.

This project is necessary because so many on both sides of the lingering divide over Trump within the GOP do not particularly want to reconcile. Currently, Donald Trump is underperforming Mitt Romney among white voters. While Hillary Clinton is having a bear of a time reassembling Barack Obama’s winning coalition, Republicans are unlikely to see gains among minorities, women, and young voters. Trump will have run the campaign that Republicans warned against in the oft-maligned 2012 "autopsy" and proven every one of its recommendations correct. His loss should finally put to rest the idea that the GOP can win the White House on the shoulders of "missing white voters."

Note Rothman was completely wrong in those last two prognostications and also now seems wrong about Trump never picking up support from minorities.

And yet he persists.

After stating that Trump supporters cannot be ejected en masse from the party, he nevertheless demands a "reckoning."

...

Republicans of all stripes must be made to acknowledge and accept that Trumpism is an experiment that failed. That's the price of admission, and it's a modest one given the great costs associated with sacrificing a winnable race for the White House.

Once again, he claims he's not for a "petty" war of vengeance against his enemies -- but he will not permit his enemies to return a state of peace unless they "renounce their cause."

That is, they are to be subjugated to the winning side, which he thought at the time would include himself and other ridiculous softboys.

...

The petty, vengeful prosecution of a feud long after one side has been unambiguously defeated is not just unproductive but morally questionable. The vanquished must furl their flags and renounce their cause, but they should be left to keep their side arms and return to their fields.

That is not to say that there can be no reckoning. While the average voter seduced by the promise of #MAGA should be returned to the fold, there are those who collaborated with Trump or whose narrow self-interests led them to believe he would preserve the comfortable order of things. For some, examples must be made.

...

Those who legitimized Trumpism with all its self-evident warts must be made to confront the fruits of their labors.

Kurt tells me that The Usual Suspects are freaking out about his call for a purge.

However, when Noah Rothman wrote this bitter, vindictive declaration that the Ruling Class Republicans would make their position as The Ruling Class explicit rather than implicit, I rhetorically asked the Usual Suspects on twitter if they agreed with him or would denounce his call for purges and Loyalty Oaths to the Establishment.

None, that I remember, would answer. None, that I remember, chastised him.

So if they're whining about Kurt's Modest Proposal now, why were they just jake with Rothman's plan back then?

Obviously it's because they believe they are in fact a Ruling Class and as such have privileges and immunities that the lower orders do not.

They talk about #MuhPrinciples a lot. But if your "principles" are that it's okay to purge when you believe that you will have the power to purge, then you must also agree that it is permissible to purge you as well, should you wind up on the losing side of the Purge Power grab.

At least, if you really believe in principles, rather than special powers and prerogatives for your tribe.

Speaking of those we need to purge: Because the Mueller investigation seems to no longer be hinting about possible "collusion"-related charges, Quin Hilyer now claims it's a #FakeNews Conservative Conspiracy Theory to say the liberal media ever pushed the "collusion" narrative.

That's right -- he's claiming the liberal media did not push a "collusion" narrative, and that it was only people like Byron York and Mollie Hemingway pushing that idea (in order to debunk it).

If you notice, alleged "Conservatives" spend a lot of band-width these days defending the left-wing media to the hilt. Or even to the pommel. Or even to the last security nut at the very end of the pommel.

They're not anti-Trump, as Kurt Schlichter has observed -- they're just anti-You.

You defied their farcical claims to Rulership, and they'll never get done hating you for that.
