The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition
I'm not sure by whom I am more disgusted: Congress (both houses) or the rat-bastard whores in the entertainment-media complex. Yes, they are both partisan hacks, but Congress' partisanship is self-serving and venal. At least the media hacks are true believers. Ignorant yes, but most of them are not in it for the money.
The scum in the halls of our legislature are a different breed. They run on solid platforms, but the second they are (re) elected they become moral and ethical relativists who excel in the justification of a particular vote in direct opposition to their claimed political philosophy. "Just this once!" And why is that? Because their financial masters wield the whip and they are quite willing to use it.
The obfuscation and fake complexity that these cowards hide behind is insulting. Political philosophy is not a complicated thing. Most of the readers of this blog could articulate a few basic conservative principles that would serve admirably for about 95% of the questions before Congress. And I'm willing to wing it for the remaining 5%
Jim Jordan's run for speaker is the last chance to save Congress
What ever happened to plugging the leaky borders? What ever happened to defunding sanctuary cities? What ever happened to fixing health care? What ever happened to cutting spending? Why is Planned Parenthood still funded? Why is Obama’s amnesty still in place?
In each of these areas, to the extent that Congress has ever addressed the issues, it makes them worse. It has sought to codify amnesty, it has busted the budget, it has done away with the debt ceiling, and it has accepted the core premise of Obamacare. It has grown almost every agency Trump promised to cut.
Read the whole article; it's an excellent indictment of our current political morass, and it pulls no punches.

The FDA Thinks You're Too Stupid To Know That Almonds Don't Really Make Milk
To be fair, apparently 43% of you are...
According to a July 25 Morning Consult/Politico poll, 43 percent of adults believe that “[t]he label milk should not be used to market nondairy beverages.” Morning Consult and Politico apparently found this question worth asking after FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb suggested the agency may start cracking down on almond milk and its other nondairy friends for violating the FDA’s “standard of identity,” which defines milk as an animal’s lactation.
Was there another choice on that poll? My preferred answer is, "I don't give a fvck."
