The Morning Report 6/28/18
Good morning kids. Heading into Thursday and the top story is without a doubt the resignation of Anthony Kennedy as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, the reaction from all quarters and just what this means going forward. Coming on the heels of some major decisions from the court over the last few days, all of them 5-4 votes, and considering the continued situation with immigration as well as politics, particularly the ascendancy post-Hillary of an openly Marxist-Socialist wing, Kennedy's retirement serves to underscore just how interrelated all of this is and how crucial it is that the President's nominee to replace him is a staunch originalist.
Recall during the run-up to the ramming of Obamacare down the throat of the American people, Nancy Palsi famously belched out (paraphrasing) if we can't get things passed through the front door, we'll go around to the back. If it's locked we'll go through a window and if there's a fence we'll pole vault over it. Infantile as that sounded she revealed the Democrat-Left's playbook. Rush Limbaugh is right in that the Dems can never openly admit to what they really want, so they lie to you and lie about their political opponents (unanswered, un-refuted until the coming of PDT) in order to get elected. But when they can't get elected, they use the bureaucracy to enact diktats and edicts in the form of regulations - thousands upon thousands every year - and when they are challenged in the courts, they rely on leftwing activist fellow-traveler black-robed stooges on the bench to find the "penumbras and emanations" to declare them totes kosher. Hence, the insane notion of a "living and breathing" Constitution. Or in many cases the outright contempt for the Constitution as outdated, outmoded and not reflective of modern times. And as Obama infamously quipped, a list of "negative rights" that restricts the government." Incredible how a man who is allegedly a brilliant Constitutional scholar did not know that the Constitution was designed to limit what government can do to the individual ( are regular F. Lee Failure, that one).
And so now, as with the nomination of Neil Gorsuch and indeed every single Republican nominee to the courts, especially the SCOTUS, the Democrats will oppose any nominee who even hints that he is an originalist. Do I have to bring up Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas? And don't be bamboozled by Schemer et al demanding that Kennedy or perhaps soon Ruth Baader-Meinhoff be replaced with a fellow ideological traveler. Bullshit. Those clowns should not ever be within 10 million light years of a bench, unless they're standing in front of it in handcuffs waiting to be sentenced to Leavenworth or Old Sparky.
Whatever our political differences, the one thing that is supposed to unite us as Americans is a common set of values and laws as expressed primarily in our Constitution and especially in the Bill of Rights. Let's be real; this nation is disunited. A significant percentage hate it, it's people, history, culture and institutions - especially our Constitution, because it's an impediment to their goal of total control. Hence, the pretense of "living and breathing."
The Left cannot achieve legitimately via elections what they can carve in granite on the court with no recourse or chance of reversal if they control the judiciary as a rubber stamp of their bureaucratic policy diktats. This is why it is so crucial that we control the judiciary. And this was a major reason, after immigration, why Donald Trump had to win in 2016. But Gorsuch! indeed. Look at what just happened over the past week: religious liberty and the first amendment were reaffirmed and the president's legitimate executive authority as granted him in the Constitution was restored after being stolen by black-robed scum. If you look at the individual cases especially in light of the current situation with immigration policy and the now open civil war within the Democrat party, Gorsuch looms large and Kennedy's retirement is positively titanic in its implications for the direction of the country.
And, that said, it shouldn't be and was never meant to be. As Mark Levin points out, every June 315 million Americans wait for 9 flawed fellow citizens to make irreversible decisions that will affect their lives for all time. The nomination of judges should be a relatively insignificant event but because of the aforementioned, it isn't. Marbury v Madison let the genie out of the bottle, and then the Left ran with it and ran rings around us starting with FDR all the way until today. A corrupted judiciary with activists legislating from the bench affirmed and cemented every anti-freedom anti-liberty project since that time until the present day when every aspect of our lives is in someway under the jackboot of some unelected bureaucrat.
Yes, but Gorsuch. And hopefully but Gorsuch/Scalia/Thomas redux. But beyond that, Article V with amendments that term limit justices and allow states and the people to overturn things like Obamacare and Roe v Wade.
Check the links for predictions, prognostications and reactions. Moving on to the other big story, coming off of Super Tuesday the Democrats are in a hot mess. The bust out commies are busting out all over and that is a good thing in that they are going to underscore and perhaps continue to instigate the violent rhetoric against the President, his advisors, the GOP and now, dear friends, you the private citizen who supports the American restoration and revitalization.
Part of me is cheering this as emerging politicos like Ocasio-Cortez and her insane Commie anti-semite freak flag wave in the breeze destroy the Democrats come November. The other part of me is alarmed since too many American youth have been seemingly taken in by Bernardo Sandersnista thanks to the Media and Academia. Evil never rests, as Momma Sefton always warned me.
In any case, I'm way behind this morning so I'll let the headlines and my snarky parenthetical fill in the blanks for all the rest.
Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.
