CNN Poll: Democrat Lead Over Republicans on Generic Congressional Ballot Down to Just Three Points -- Within the Margin of Error

Given previous polling results, one would imagine the Democrats do have a lead, but... per this poll, given that the 3% is within the margin of error, it's actually now statistically even.

The poll shows a massive dip in support for Democrats over the past few months. A CNN poll in February showed that Democrats had a 16-point advantage over Republicans and in March CNN released a poll that showed Democrats had a six-point advantage over the GOP, CNN reported.

Enthusiasm among Republican voters has also increased in the last few months. Thirty-six percent of Republican and Republican-leaning registered voters said in March they were very enthusiastic about voting. The May poll shows that number is up to 44 percent.

Democrats had had a 15 point advantage in enthusiasm -- 51% of Democrats said in the last poll that they were "very enthusiastic" to vote, to 36% of Republicans. That edge has now declined to 6%-- 50% to 44%.

Guy Benson wrote yesterday that the GOP had some good news in Tuesday's primaries apart from nominating electable candidates -- GOP turnout was up.
