The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

Quality means doing it right when no one is looking. Henry Ford

Quote II

The wisdom of man never yet contrived a system of taxation that would operate with perfect equality. Andrew Jackson

Quote III

In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes. Benjamin Franklin

Quote IV

Elections should be held on April 16th- the day after we pay our income taxes. That is one of the few things that might discourage politicians from being big spenders. Thomas Sowell

Quote V

Whatever Trump says, America is not coming out of Syria. We are going deeper in. Trump’s commitment to extricate us from these bankrupting and blood-soaked Middle East wars and to seek a new rapprochement with Russia is “inoperative.”Patrick J. Buchanan

Do you remember when President Trump was accused of calling certain countries "shit holes and/or hell holes? He denied it. So let me say what we are all thinking. Why the hell are we taking in people from 3rd world shit holes?

The first known epidemic of extensively drug-resistant typhoid is spreading through Pakistan, infecting at least 850 people in 14 districts since 2016, according to the National Institute of Health Islamabad.

The typhoid strain, resistant to five types of antibiotics, is expected to disseminate globally, replacing weaker strains where they are endemic. Experts have identified only one remaining oral antibiotic — azithromycin — to combat it; one more genetic mutation could make typhoid untreatable in some areas.

Researchers consider the epidemic an international clarion call for comprehensive prevention efforts. If vaccination campaigns and modern sanitation systems don’t outpace the pathogen, they anticipate a return to the pre-antibiotic era when mortality rates soared.

Prevention?

No. As in HELL NO! The NSA wants a key to obtain everyone's encrypted data.

Like it or not, you are your data. In this day and age, your receipts, social media activity, public records, GPS data, and internet search history are the proof of who you are. And while you may have thought you had secrets, the Federal Government would like the rest of them.

The seemingly innocuous pieces of information we trade away every day create a detailed mosaic of our lives used to target advertising and create personality profiles that are exploited by the FBI, political operatives like Cambridge Analytica, and Russian propagandists.

Maybe I am over reacting. The government do anything illegal or unethical? Guess I'm going to hell.

I had my annual physical last week. Being in flyover country my Doc and I discussed fishing (Both kinds) and hunting. No, there weren't any questions asked about guns. Fortunately the clinic I attend isn't moonbat f*cking crazy.

This morning, for the first time in over a year, I had an appointment with a specialist at the local hospital in Paradise. I arrived at the hospital and the clinic for specialty services to check in.

The check-in procedure went like this:

“Hello, I’m here for my appointment with Dr. ________.”

Receptionist: “Thank you. Just point to the line that you associate with yourself and we can get started checking you in.”

She slid the following laminated card over the top of her workstation screen and waited.

And waited.

And waited.

And I, ever so slowly, absorbed this new directive...........

When temperatures spiked it was called 'Global Warming'. Then the temperatures dropped and it was called 'Climate Change'. That didn't work so now let's call it 'Climate Restoration'.

Of course, anyone even slightly familiar with the history of the Earth's climate knows there is no one climate to be restored. We have had ice ages that covered much of the land on which Americans now live in glaciers. Is that the climate we wish to be restored?

Proponents claim they merely want to get rid of the "pollutants" – i.e., CO2, which is necessary for life and is used by plants to grow. (Higher levels of atmospheric CO2 already are increasing crop yields.) But buried in this phraseology is the hidden assumption that the atmosphere, not solar activity, controls climate. This is a ridiculous assumption on its face, since the ultimate source of our energy – atmospheric and carbon-based deposits – is the Sun.

By the way, solar activity is crashing now.

The time to demand clean pot is now. So says Ziggy Marley.

After decades of struggle, marijuana legalization is finally sweeping the land – now, with the expansion of cannabis, we must be careful both as consumers and as businesses to not allow the industry to put profits above the health and wellbeing of the people.

Consumers must take the lead in holding the marijuana industry – including growers, dispensaries and brands – to high moral and business standards in order to safeguard the health of marijuana users in whatever form it is consumed.

Attempting to sell expensive "hot" wine is not so easy. Once again, crime doesn't pay. Or pay well.

ONE DECEMBER NIGHT IN 2014, a group of wine aficionados congregated in front of Thomas Keller’s famed French Laundry restaurant. They hadn’t called ahead to see if the Yountville, California, institution, which has an infamous, months-long waitlist, could accommodate them. Since it was Christmas night, the restaurant wasn’t even open.

Regardless, the crew got what they came for. They broke in and walked out with over $500,000 worth of wine, including some of the most coveted bottles in the world.

Nearly four years later, investigators have recovered all but a handful of the 110 missing bottles. Earlier this year, the Department of Justice released a statement confirming that two of the thieves—Alfred Georgis and Davis Kiryakoz—also conspired with others to steal and transport fine wines from Alexander’s Steakhouse in Cupertino, California (that theft clocked in at $32,000). Additionally, Kiryakoz admitted that he’d been part of a group that swiped $290,000 worth of wine in 2013, from San Francisco’s Fine Wines International, according to SF Gate. Both men have since been sentenced to time in prison.

Go figure, Rehabilitation and correction doesn't work.

Seven inmates were killed during fights that lasted more than seven hours at a South Carolina prison Sunday night and into Monday morning, according to officials.

At least six emergency agencies responded to the "mass casualty incident" at Lee Correctional Institution in Lee County that resulted in the seven inmate deaths and 17 other inmates requiring medical attention, the S.C. Department of Corrections announced early Monday morning.

The fight, which spanned three dorms, was likely gang related, and spawned from a disagreement over territory, contraband and cellphones, SC Department of Corrections Director Brian Stirling said.

Injured. Cold. And in the middle of nowhere.

I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not to share this story. I didn’t want to undermine the seriousness of the incident – and I’m embarrassed and disappointed. But here it is.

In March, I traveled to Greenland with Merrell athlete Jason Antin and a film crew from Stept Studios for some adventure and exploration. Our goals were to quickly traverse the Arctic Circle Trail and then put up some new lines on unclimbed and un-skied peaks north of Sisimiut...........

Going to be a criminal? It is probably a good idea not to film yourself unless you want to be a Genius Award Winner.

ROYAL PALM BEACH — A Royal Palm Beach man accused of burglary has his vehicle’s dashboard camera to thank for landing him in the Palm Beach County Jail, according to an arrest report.

Xavier Inocencio Moran, 25, is accused of using a baseball bat first to break into the Sally’s Beauty Supply in Royal Palm Beach on April 5, then on a safe in order to attempt entry.

The rescued become the rescuers. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Most of the dogs recruited are unlikely to be adopted because of their animated personalities.

"What others see as bad behaviors, we see as talent and potential," says Denise Sanders, SDF’s communications and development officer.

They also ensure lifetime care for every dog in their program. "Once rescued, these dogs will never need to be rescued again."
