The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition

We need a new movement to supersede the outdated and flat-out wrong "neocon" sensibility. I am all for American involvement in geopolitical machinations, including the use of military force. But it cannot be the chaotic, idiotic and murderous open-ended kind favored by dinosaurs like John McCain. Being the catalyst for others to do the heavy lifting in their own countries and spheres of influence is a much smarter way of maintaining control over our interests. Air power? Sure! Logistical and training support? Fantastic! But putting American boots on the ground must be examined carefully and ruthlessly, with clear, unequivocal goals in mind and equally clear end-points.

And most of all, those end-points must not be some magical time in the future when the country at hand is transformed into a gentle liberal democracy. Yes, it happened a few times after WWII, but does anyone seriously entertain the notion that we can take Shitcanistan and turn it into Japan 2.0?
