« The Weekly Standard: Republicans Should Be Condemning Sinclair Media and Its "Deeply Unserious" Claim that the Biased Leftwing Media is Leftwing and Biased | Main | Byron York: The Mueller Investigation Undermines the Rule of Law »
April 04, 2018

The Media's Shocked by Sinclair Media Using the Same Words to Advertise Their Collective Brand, and, To Show How Concerned They Are By This Propganda, They're Going to Use the Same Words Over and Over about Their Concern About This Propaganda

The Weekly Standard's Editors nod in deepest, most pecuniary agreement.

Yeah, the media doesn't coordinate messaging with each other and with their Democrat masters or anything.

[H]aving read the panicky coverage before watching the Sinclair videos, I was surprised by the innocuousness of the spots. The anchors were plainly reading a scripted public service announcement that claimed there was a "troubling trend of irresponsible, one-sided news stories" at major news outlets, then offering themselves as an alternative.

They then cautioned viewers to avoid the "sharing of biased and false news" on social media, which is, I am often told, a plague on democracy. "But we are human and sometimes our reporting might fall short," the script goes on to say. "If you believe our coverage is unfair, please reach out to us."

The rhetoric was a less-sanctimonious version of CNN’s "apples and bananas" spot from a few months ago--another finger-wagging aimed at political foes and competitors. It's clear that the oversized reaction to the Sinclair script is because it flaunted the wrong bias.

The leftwing media routinely rolls out communicated messaging -- also called "advertising" in other contexts -- to tout their own brands.

How could CNN fault Sinclair for a promo asserting its commitment to the truth? For months, the network has run a pretentious group of "Apple" ads touting its own commitment to "Facts First."

How could MSNBC be so upset? Loyal viewers are frequently subjected to "This Is Why You Watch" ads featuring their personalities doing things like pumping up the Parkland high school students advocating gun control. Another one from 2016 featured Hillary Clinton telling Andrea Mitchell how she loved her.

After Barack Obama was re-elected in 2012, a Rachel Maddow-narrated commercial aired for months spiking the football over his victory. For years, the progressive network ran "Lean Forward" ads espousing messages like children belonging to their communities and Republicans being like thieves stealing blueberry pie.

David Ruiz then offers a lot of his own supercuts showing the leftwing media using the exact same wording to register their shock and horror about whatever it is they were shocked and horrified by that particular day.

Below, a good Daily Caller supercut showing the media express its "concern" over Sinclair's "propaganda" of a coordinated ad campaign by using the words "concern" and "propaganda" over and over again.
