The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition

There are few better targets for our poo than idiot journalists, and this guy might be number 1 on the list.

Journalism *is* activism in its most basic form. The entire basis for its ethical practice is the idea that a democracy requires an informed citizenry in order to function. Choosing what you want people to know is a form of activism, even if it’s not the march-and-protest kind. https://t.co/e1JfES3ciA

The arrogance of this statement is breathtaking. But what is most stunning is that he says it with pride, and without a hint of introspection, that just possibly his inflated sense of importance is misplaced, and that a journalist is supposed to report the facts, and let the people decide for themselves.

It's also astoundingly ignorant, since activism is essentially campaigning to bring about social or political change, and that is absolutely not what journalism is. The statement's internal inconsistency should be obvious to anyone who writes for a living, and to anyone who knows how to read. And...don't these people squawk endlessly about how Fox news is partisan, and isn't that worse than Hitler?
