DC Councilman: I'm Sorry That I Proclaimed That the Jews Control the Weather
Last you'll hear of this.
The media only covers leftwing Democrat conspiracy theories briefly and begrudgingly.
Had this been a Republican-- woah, Nelly. Katie bar the door.
A Washington, D.C., lawmaker apologized on Sunday after he posted a video promoting a conspiracy theory that the weather is controlled by Jewish financiers.
"I work hard everyday to combat racism and prejudices of all kinds. I want to apologize to the Jewish Community and anyone I have offended," Councilman Trayon White Sr. (D) said in a statement to The Washington Post.
He had posted a video wherein he claimed that weather was controlled by rich Jewish families like the Rothschilds.
"Man, it just started snowing out of nowhere this morning, man. Y'all better pay attention to this climate control, man, this climate manipulation," White said in a video on his official Facebook page. "And D.C. keep talking about, 'We a resilient city.' And that’s a model based off the Rothschilds controlling the climate to create natural disasters they can pay for to own the cities, man. Be careful."
Remember when I said if this were a Republican conspiracy theory, the media would be more dogged in pursuing the story, instead of giving it one day Page B14 coverage?
Well, the Washington Post covered it -- probably for the last time -- but decided to add the "context" of rightwing conspiracy theories, for no good reason.
Conspiracy theories alleging nefarious plots by elites such as the Rothschilds and Rockefellers -- as well as other boogeymen such as the illuminati and Freemasons -- have increasingly bobbed to the surface of American politics in recent years.
The Republican Party's 2012 platform embraced what had previously been fringe fears of a 1992 United Nations environmental accord known as Agenda 21, stating that it was "erosive of American sovereignty." Assertions that the pact was cover for a global plot had become popular among tea party groups battling local, state and federal environmental regulations.
Speculation that high-ranking Democratic Party officials, including former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, were involved in a child sex-trafficking ring run out of a D.C. restaurant led to the infamous "Pizzagate" episode in December 2016. A North Carolina man showed up with a Colt AR-15 military-style rifle and a .38-caliber Colt revolver at Comet Ping Pong, a pizza joint in Northwest Washington, saying he planned to investigate the allegations.
Do you think the next time a rightwinger pushes a conspiracy theory, they'll add in this leftwing blame-the-Jews Weather Control conspiracy theory, for "context"?
I don't -- as I said, I think you'll never hear of this again. Down the memory hole.
If they wanted to add "context," they could have added Farrakhan's recent ravings about the Jews controlling everything, and Democratic congressmen refusing to denounce his anti-semitic rants.
And noted that maybe this gives aid and comfort to other anti-semitic black politicians.
But for some reason I couldn't even guess at, that didn't occur to the Washington Post.
