Unhinged Conspiracy Theorists: Leftwing Professor Lawrence Tribe Floats Theory that a Carter Page Associate Was Murdered in an Engineered Plane Crash, Then Deletes His Noxious Tweet
A better class of people, with a better class of lunatic conspiracy theories.
Conspiracy theories like this are basically prayers to pagan demons. Lawrence Tribe doesn't so much believe this is true as he's wishing to a dark and forgotten Stone Age god of hate to make it true.
A Harvard law professor and member of the anti-Trump “Resistance” floated the false rumor Monday that a source for the unverified Steele dossier was killed in a plane crash in Russia over the weekend.
Laurence Tribe claimed on Twitter that Sergei Millian, a Belarus-born businessman alleged to be a dossier source, was killed Sunday when a Saratov Airlines plane crashed near Moscow. All 71 passengers died.
"Among those killed in the tragic plane crash yesterday: Sergei Millian, a Papadopoulis friend who had emailed Kushner and is said to be behind one of the most salacious claims in the dossier on Trump's involvement with Russia," wrote Tribe, who has been described as Barack Obama's legal mentor from the former president's days at Harvard Law School.
"Probably just coincidence," Tribe added sarcastically, suggesting that the plane crash was an attempt to quiet a dossier source.
Plot twist, by the way: Sergei Millian was not in fact aboard the plane at all, and is therefore not dead.
Obama's former mentor has now deleted his tweet -- but almost certainly only because of the gross factual error in the claim, not the lunatic conspiracy theory it contained.
Just curious: if Sergei Millian's murder-by-airplane death would have proven the Trump RUSSIA storyline, does Sergei Millian's non-death-by-airplane prove that it's bunk?
After all: No one seems interested in killing this guy. Therefore, he's not important. Therefore, there's nothing there.
Right?
