Veterans Group: The Dirty NFL Censored Our Stand-for-the-Flag Ad
Of course they did.
AMVETS officials are decrying "corporate censorship" from the National Football League for their decision not to run an ad in their Super Bowl program which responds to league players’ decision to kneel for the national anthem in protest of national equality issues.
The ad, which would have cost the veterans organization $30,000, features the tag "#PleaseStand" with a picture of service members saluting the American flag and information on how to donate to the congressionally-chartered organization.
Group leaders said NFL officials refused to include the ad in their Super Bowl publication, but did not issue a reason why.
The NFL claims it doesn't permit ads that could be interpreted as making a political statement.
Oh, sure, the NFL totally doesn't want political statements during its games. That's why it's permitted a year and a half of National Anthem protests, I guess.
Rachel Campos-Duffy says the NFL will pay a price for this.
This is what the NFL has done: They've actually made standing for our flag, honoring our heroes and veterans, something political," Campos-Duffy said on "America's Newsroom."
...
She argued that many NFL fans disagreed with players refusing to stand for the anthem all season, but they justified it as free speech and continued tuning in to games.
This "censorship" of a veterans organization, however, is a different story, she said.
"I think this is the final straw for a lot of football fans," Campos-Duffy said. "I think that the NFL's going to pay a price for this."
BTW, the Pats-Jaguars game, which was very competitive (the Pats only went ahead of the Jags with like 2:48 to go), was the lowest-rated championship game since 2013.
There was also a 2.9 ratings point drop in the Philly-Minny game, compared to the late game of last year.
I blame the declining interest in the NFL -- which people once actually thought was a "patriotic" brand that supported traditionalist sentiments -- on RUSSIAN BOTS.
All stories I don't like can be explained away by the conspiracy theory of RUSSIAN BOTS, which is an educated, enlightened conspiracy theory, because my liberal pals say it's a good conspiracy theory to believe in.
Conservative conspiracy theories, on the other hand, are uncouth, ill-mannered, uneducated, and racist.
But I'm totally a conservative. I just think conservatives are vicious retarded animals, and liberals are well-intentioned people with lots and lots of credibility.
Isn't it obvious that my political sympathies lie with the people I routinely bait, troll, and straight-up insult?
PS, please consider my blogposts to be an extended job application to the Daily Beast. Or Newsweek. Somewhere that understands that the stupid inbred conspiracy theories of conservatives need to be stamped out and replaced with the superior conspiracy theories of my liberal Twitter Palz.
