The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition

"For the apparel oft proclaims the man." Yeah, I wrote that. It took awhile, but it was worth the trouble.

How come you people worry about this stuff? I guess everything else is just perfect in your world. But if it is so perfect, how come I sometimes have to throw poo to get fed?

Dr. Martens Portland billboard evokes white supremacist symbol, activists say

The Southern Poverty Law Center lists Dr. Martens with red or white laces in the "Racist Skinhead Glossary."

You lost me right there buddy. Anyone who cites that notoriously anti-American, racist, classist, communist organization loses all credibility.

According to Randy Blazak, chair of Oregon's Coalition Against Hate Crime and a criminologist who specializes in hate groups, Dr. Martens have been connected to racist skinheads since the 1970s.

Really? Because punks on the West Coast wore Doc Martens, and the ones in the Bay Area sure weren't racist. Quite the opposite. But they wore the same boots? As a symbol? Really?

Black Dr. Martens with white shoelaces are a symbol of "general white power," Blazak said over the phone Thursday.

"The idea," he continued, "is that you graduate from white laces to red laces once you've spilled somebody's blood."

Blazak said he knows Dr. Martens has been working to distance itself from the racist skinhead image and he is surprised it would allow an ad like this to be displayed, especially in Portland.

"In Portland, where we're tagged as 'Skinhead City,'" he said, "it's triggering."

So how about the droopy-pants look that is affected by thugs in the inner cities who actually kill people? Can I claim that is a trigger for law-abiding folks whose most fervent desire is that they not be murdered?

How about clothing companies that advertise blue or red clothing? Can I say it triggers those in the crossfire of Crips and Bloods gang violence?

Inner city gang violence dwarfs the dangers of white supremacists, real or imagined. When was the last time you read about a racist skinhead committing an act of violence? Because you can pick up any newspaper in America and read about ghetto murders and violence. Every day.

But complaining about minority-on-minority violence doesn't get you headlines. Besides, these people don't give a shit about democrat strongholds like Chicago and Newark and Oakland. They can kill each other with impunity as long as they are reliable in the voting booths.

College Dems leader resigns after declaring hatred of white men

The College Democrats of Wisconsin announced that its vice chair who lashed out against “white men” in a tweet last week has stepped down from her role in the organization.

According to the group, Sarah Semrad, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse who allegedly tweeted that “I f***ing hate white men,” resigned her post on the executive board of the political organization as of Tuesday morning.

She seems nice.

Whittle: The News Media Knows How To Stop These Massacres, But Refuses To Do It

Citing forensic psychologist Park Dietz, who has studied mass murderers extensively, Whittle contends that we’ve seen a wave of mass shootings like Las Vegas and Sutherland Springs because the media insists on providing 24/7 coverage of the tragedies, turning suicide massacres into a chance for glory for the sociopaths carrying out the heinous acts.

I think Whittle is reaching a bit, but the point makes some sense. And the glorification of the murderer and the prompt dismissal of the victims is horrid.
