More on #FusionCollusion
Two quick things first:
Something you Morons are just going to have to read is this outstanding John Sexton piece, which answers two questions you might have:
1. Why were Simpson and Veselnitskya specifically in a federal courthouse together for their meeting? A: Because they were the subject of a suit by Bill Browder, the man Russia hired Fusion to smear as part of its efforts to undo the Magnitsky Act. Browder had accused both Simpson and Veselnitskya of having failed to register as foreign agents (of Russia) under FARA.
2. What "dirt" did Veselnitskya have to offer about Hillary's finances? This is a bit convoluted, but this is once again Fusion/Veselnitskya trying to undo the Magnitsky Act: they were claiming that two people who had donated to Hillary Clinton had failed to pay taxes in Russia on investments managed by Bill Browder. (I think -- it's a bit convoluted; see the piece for details.)
Veselnitskaya, with the help of Russian prosecutor general Yuri Y. Chaika, apparently decided that the Ziff brothers (alleged) failure to pay taxes on investments to Browder’s funds could be spun as “dirt” on Hillary. Why? Because those same investors were big DNC donors. Maybe the plan was to get Trump or his people to make a stink about this, but it seems Donald Trump Jr. just didn’t get how Americans not paying taxes in Russia constituted dirt. Describing the Trump Tower meeting with Veselnitskaya Trump Jr. told Sean Hannity, "It was this 'Hey, some DNC donors may have done something in Russia and they didn't pay taxes' ...I was like, what does this have to do with anything"" Trump Jr. said the meeting broke up when Veselnitskaya started talking about adoptions.
So, in other words, Veselnitskya was just there to try to undermine Bill Browder further -- just as Fusion GPS was trying to do.
It sure seems that it's Hillary and the DNC who are colluding with Russia to influence a US election here.
The NeverTrump wing of the Democrat Party (Formerly the NeverTrump wing of the Republican party) scoffs when you bring this up. Mollie Hemingway mentioned it to Steve Hayes on the Brett Baier show, and he scoffed dismissively as if it was a conspiracy theory.
It's not. It's established fact. Hillary and the DNC hired Fusion GPS to do oppo research. They hired Christopher Steele, who in turn paid cash money to Kremlin operatives for dirt.
Hillary and the DNC paid (through two levels of cut-outs) Kremlin officials for information on Trump they hoped would swing an election.
Why does Steve Hayes scoff scornfully about this? Does he subscribe to an unstated rule that if you have two levels of insulation -- two levels of cut-outs, as they say in espionage jargon -- two levels of plausible deniability separating you from the foreign agent you're paying -- then you're... what, innocent?
Would he apply this rule to a mob boss who says he never even spoke to a hitman who killed a rival? But you know, he was in contact with the captain who maybe said something to a soldier who then mentioned something to a hit man about whacking that guy.
If I wear a condom when I'm fucking someone, does that mean no sex happened? What if I wear two? Two layers of insulation and it just didn't happen?
And by the way, since no one's ever asked: Given that Hillary was paying Fusion and Fusion was working for Russia to undo the Magnitsky Act -- maybe it's time to ask Hillary under oath if she ever sent word, through intermediaries, about her position on Magnitsky back to Putin, huh?
