Terrorism: "Mass Casualty" Incident in Manhattan As Truck Veers Into Bicycle Path and Mows Down Several Riders; Then Driver Flees While Shooting Two Guns

At least six dead and many others presumably wounded. At latest count.

Update: FoxNews now reporting the driver, who totally did this not as a part of any terror attack but just because of a dispute with another trucker, shouted "Allahu Akbar," thus proving conclusively that this is definitely not terrorism but probably Trump's doing #BecauseRussians.

The #SalonHot25 is about to write essays about how to solve the radicalization of Muslims overseas by allowing them to radicalize here in the US. Kind of like parents who let underage teenagers drink at parties at their own homes under Cool Dad supervision.

This New York Times report suggests that these two incidents are actually the same incident, the run-down followed by the truck colliding with another vehicle, then the driver running on foot while shooting.

However, I'm not sure that's what happened. I think it is, but I'm not sure. Stuyvesant High School is in lower Manhattan, on the Hudson River, and the shootings are also reported to be in lower Manhattan. Also, Stuyvesant is on Chambers Street.

Certainly this is similar to the truck run-down attacks we've seen in Europe (those usually followed by attacks on foot with knives), but police say it's not terror-connected, and was prompted by... a dispute between two truck drivers?!

Police are saying that the suspect is in custody and there is not believed to be any other suspects at large.

So this seems to be over -- except for the counting of the dead.

Revised: I initially speculated more that this was possibly a terror attack, but have updated to include police claims that this is not terror-related.

Revised Again: Now the police are saying "Shit, maybe this is terrorism."

I guess it's super-important to make the "no terrorism" claim within minutes of the event.

Or maybe this is a white guy, so terrorism is back on the table #BecauseYouKnow.

Update: Charlie Brown's Dildo (a reliable source, if ever there was one) says the collision happened after the vehicular homicides, as a bus driver deliberately crashed into the truck murderer to stop his rampage.

I just heard an interview with someone who sounds rational. This guy may have been driving down the bike path on the West Side from as far north as the 40s. He was stopped by someone driving a school bus who intentionally hit the truck.

One of the witnesses says the guy with the guns was himself being chased -- was the hero bus driver chasing a man armed with two guns? Was he armed himself, or just the gutsiest man who ever lived?

WPIX in New York saying police now leaning towards terrorism. They say this wasn't "road rage." Reporter says whenever it's a rented van, you have to think terrorism.
