Rose McGowan Claims Lisa Bloom Offered Her $6 Million to Publicly Support Harvey Weinstein

McGowan also says she never signed a non-disclosure agreement in tandem with her $100,000 settlement for the incident she alleged happened in 1997, which makes her extreme reluctance to talk about this (until recently) harder to understand.

Harvey Weinstein accuser Rose McGowan claims attorney Lisa Bloom offered her $6million to publicly support the disgraced media mogul who she says raped her.

In an emotional statement posted to what appears to be her private Facebook account, the former Charmed star accused celebrity attorney Lisa Bloom of approaching her literary agent to try and influence McGowan to publicly support Weinstein.

Bloom had represented Weinstein before resigning on October 7 after the scandal broke.

'You know what is truth, Lisa? I feel like people should know that you've been calling my literary agent and saying there'd be money for me if I got on the "Harvey's Changed" bandwagon?' the actor wrote.

'You told her that I should care about HIS reputation. How HE has a family now and how HE has changed. Well, guess what? I've always had a family and that didn't stop him from assaulting me.'

Lisa Bloom denies this, saying that she doesn't even know who McGowan's literary agent is.

McGowan gives a few reasons to doubt her credibility on this point. As usual, her ranting is a bit difficult to make sense of. She's extremely emotional. Also, she claims she... took the $100,000 payoff to prove she would not play along? And she crows about not signing the NDA, and telling dozens of people about the assault, despite actually backing out of the Rowan Farrow article (and giving NBC a good pretext to kill the story)?

Eh. Who knows. Clearly Weinstein molested or assaulted a lot of women, but I'm not sure McGowan can be taken as a reliable witness on too many things.

Last week I noted that the BBC was reporting that someone had called the Merseyside police and reported a sexual assault by Harvey Weinstein, and they had in turn alerted the London Metropolitan Police, who were investigating. The article didn't say who that was.

It turns out it was Lysette Anthony, an actress of mild prominence in the 1980s, chiefly in sci-fi and genre movies like Krull.

It's one of the more horrifying crimes he's been accused of-- forcible rape, after a period of "stalking" (as the actress terms it).

In addition to that "historic" crime (that's the term used, I guess it means a long-ago crime outside the statute of limitations), English police are also looking into the case of a woman who says she was assaulted three times between 2010 and 2015.

French actress Eva Green (from Casino Royale, and many others) also alleges that Harvey Weinstein harassed her in Paris. She alleges harassment, not assault or rape, so I don't know if a third country will be pursuing charges against him -- but we'll see.

Eva Green's mom says that Weinstein threatened to destroy Green's career after she pushed Weinstein off of her:

That sounds a lot like a criminal action -- coercion to make someone have sex with you. Not the same as a knife to the throat, but still an attempt to use coercion to extract sexual favors from a woman.

French President Macron has moved to strip Weinstein of his Legion of Honor designation, but that's not the same as a prosecution. Asia Argento says that Weinstein assaulted her in Cannes, which is of course in France.

Other women complain of harassment or assault by Weinstein in Cannes as well.

And maybe bring in the Italian police-- model/actress Angie Everhart says that Weinstein broke into her cabin yacht, where she was sleeping, and masturbated in front of her, at the Venice film festival.

Angie says the incident happened more than 10 years ago on a yacht during the Venice Film Festival (she mistakenly said Cannes). She says she had just arrived from the United States, was jetlagged and went to a cabin and fell asleep. The next thing she knew, Weinstein was over her, blocking the door and pleasuring himself.

She says he told her not to tell anyone, but, "I told everyone." Angie says she told other actors, producers -- anyone who would listen -- and all they said was, "oh that's just Harvey." Angie says everyone knew that Weinstein committed such acts but no one did a damn thing until last week.

Harvey Weinstein offered a strange legal defense for one of his assaults -- he says he had a professional obligation to touch a woman's breasts, to ascertain if they were real.

This was his defense in the case of the Italian model/actress he groped in New York City, the case where the Manhattan DA decided it didn't have enough evidence to prosecute, despite the SVU and the victim getting Weinstein to admit on tape that he'd grabbed her breasts.

See... they presented an "intent" defense -- he didn't have the intent necessary to the crime, because he's just a professional with a keen attention to detail.

And the Manhattan DA bought this. Or claimed it bought this.

James Comey would be proud.
