Better and Better: "Women's Advocate" Lisa Bloom Attempted to Stop Publication of Story About Roy Price's Harassment of Isa Hackett
She didn't just flak for Harvey Weinstein, she also flakked for Roy Price -- and succeeded in blocking the publication of the "you will love my dick" story mentioned below.
For a while, anyway.
Bloom's defense was certainly effective. Masters went through legal vetting of the story with six different publications before she finally found an outlet for it...
Buzzfeed and the Daily Beast both passed, for example.
In fairness, the accuser, Isa Hackett, refused to go on the record until recently, and while she issued some kind of statement, the statement wasn't "definitive," as the author of the article admits. She had corroborating witnesses -- but they were off-the-record too.
Still: certainly Bloom knew who the accuser was.
But she bulled and threatened lawsuits on Roy Price's behalf anyway.
Over the weeks that would follow, as I began searching for a home for my scoop, Harder and Bloom convinced every publication that considered my story that they weren’t just threatening legal action but would indeed sue.
Perhaps that threat was so convincing because Harder had handled Hogan's devastating suit against Gawker with backing from billionaire Peter Thiel. In her zeal to protect her client--who has yet to address any of the allegations in my piece publicly--Bloom claimed that I had turned on Price after he rebuffed my demand to have Amazon underwrite The Business, the public-radio show that I host on KCRW. I can't guess who concocted that allegation, but I assume the idea was to establish a potential argument that I had behaved unethically and had a personal grudge against him and therefore didn’t care what the facts were. (Since Price is a public figure, his only hope of prevailing in court would be to argue that I published information I knew to be false or acted in reckless disregard of whether it was false.)
When I first read the claim in an email from Bloom, I was angry, but I also laughed because it was ridiculous. I've never discussed underwriting with anyone, even internally at KCRW. I don't know the first thing about it. I'm told Bloom insisted she had proof, though of course none was produced. My editor at THR told her that the story was false, but she repeated it to other publications nonetheless.
Lisa Bloom -- defender of women. And also, threatener of women, if a liberal male client is paying her cash money to do so.
Lisa Bloom is no longer representing Roy Price. She says she stopped representing him before the producer (Isa Hackett) went public with her charges, as if that's a critical fact that keeps her out of the Hired Gun for Rich Liberal Male Harassers category. (See the first link, to John Sexton's piece in Hot Air, for more on that.)
They're all going up in flames. It's amazing.
