The Morning Report 9/21/17
Good morning kids. On this first full day of autumn, we're loaded for bear so let's dive right in. First up, Puerto Rico is without power in the wake of Hurricane Maria as it continues to barrel westward across the Caribbean, while rescuers are frantically combing through the rubble in Mexico City which was pulverized by Tuesday's earthquake.
Domestically, even as our worst fears of the utter lawlessness of those wielding power in DC have been confirmed, Robert Mueller is doubling down and searching for any shred of wrongdoing by anyone even remotely associated with the President in the effort to derail and delegitimize his presidency and the will of the American people. Related to that is the revelation that Samantha Power unmasked Americans during the final year of the Obama occupation at a frantic pace to achieve the exact same thing; first in a bid to prevent his election and then to destroy it before the stench of the Obama taint could be eviscerated from the Oval Office. Not enough praise for Daniel Greenfield's piece Ace posted yesterday afternoon that puts everything into stark and shocking focus.
After the President's phenomenal speech at the UN, the big question is will he keep the Iran nuke sellout in place or will he scrap it? His comments during his speech, which in effect was a slap at Obama that rhetorically pinned his ears back, seem to indicate that he is inclined to do so, though there is friction between Rexxon who wants to keep it (that's shock, right?) and Nikki Haley who wants it scrapped. She is turning into the President's best pick so far. And when Pence runs in 2024 I would think she would be the natural pick for veep.
Mitch McCriminal is trying to whip votes to pass the last-ditch Obamacare Repeal/Replace which some accounts describe as merely a window-dressing "overhaul." I'm not enough of a wonk to fully get it; some sources I generally trust think it's actually pretty good, all things considered and some feel it's a stunt. I've also seen reports that Rick Santorum stands to profit handsomely by some aspects of this (it was on Hoft's site, so color me skeptical). In any case, I fully expect McStains and Murkowski to torpedo it at the last minute because, principles.
Fresh off being completely humiliated by the beast of her own creation, Nancy Pelosi spewed praise on the illegal aliens who used their children as pawns and brought or sent them here to which Tucker Carlson responded as only he can. Palate cleanser is an understatement.
Lastly, as the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah comes tonight, I leave you with two things of note. First, the US has opened its first permanent base in Israel's Negev Desert. That is kind of surprising and in the wake of PDT's UN speech might be telegraphing a message to Iran. And we say farewell to a man named Mitchell Flint. After his service in World War 2 as a US Navy fighter pilot, he went on to volunteer in the nascent Israeli Air Force during its war for independence in 1948. He passed away peacefully at the age of 94. (Click here for "A Wing and a Prayer")
Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed. L'shana tovah to you all!
