The Morning Report 9/20/17
Good morning kids. Midweek and above the fold, as Hurricane Maria bears down on Puerto Rico a 7.1 earthquake has rocked Mexico and there are reports of a 6.1 quake hitting New Zealand. Prayers for the victims and if you are on or near Puerto Rico, the governor has said "get out or die." Words to live by; literally.
The big story is President Trump's address to the U.N. General Assembly. For me, it was the most incredible and perhaps significant speech given by an American president at least since Ronald Reagan and perhaps ever. It pulled no punches, had memorable lines and most importantly, it was the pure and unvarnished truth. For me, most significantly was the long overdue public indictment of totalitarian socialism and communism laid at the feet of the criminals, thugs and tyrants still enslaving and destroying the lives of a good portion of the 6+ billion human beings on this planet. If nothing else, this is why I am so grateful that he is president.
In other news, Paul Manafort is up in arms and calling for the DoJ to go after the Obama administration and I assume James Comey for what amounts to thuggery and political persecution that makes Watergate look like a grade school kid boosting a pack of gum at the candy store. Meanwhile, as Trump dazzles at the UN, former national savior and pick for ambassador to Russia, John Huntsman, is pushing the Russia stole the election meme. Sheesh.
The GOP effort to get the Obamacare Repeal/Replace block grant scheme is gaining steam but the big question is will the usual gang of scum and "goniffs" vote to screw the American people (I'm looking at McStain and Murkowski in particular)?
Meanwhile, Jeanne "shabeen" Shaheen sez that Nancy Pelosi was the victim of, get this, Russian agents at that hijacked press conference. Make mine a borscht burrito, please. Keep plucking that pierogi, toots.
Lastly, there is a fine essay about the potential railroading of Officer Daniel Pantaleo in the Eric "Loosie" Garner case. I recommend. Anyway, as always, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.
