Wonderful: Our Judicial Overlords Overturn Sentence on Younger Member of the Beltway Sniper Duo
He was sentenced to life without parole at age 17 -- but a judge has vacated that sentence, claiming that a 17 year old can't be exposed to our harshest penalties, as they have the greatest chances of reform.
Malvo appealed to the court saying he should not have been sentenced to life without parole because he was 17 years old at the time of the murders and he based his appeal on the Supreme Court ruling in Miller v. Alabama.
The decision in the Supreme Court case ruled juveniles are constitutionally different from adults for the purposes of sentencing "because juveniles have diminished culpability and greater prospects for reform," which makes them "less deserving of the most severe punishments." Judge Raymond Jackson agreed and made his ruling to vacate Malvo's sentence.
Even though this guy committed serial acts of terrorist murders, shooting random people over a several-week period.
And he did it for Allah.

And yesterday, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the national injunction against the travel ban. I guess they want more Manchesters.
