The Morning Report 5/23/17

Good morning, kids. What can be said about last night's barbaric slaughter of mostly children at a Manchester pop concert that hasn't been said over and over for years now? In perhaps a horrible twist of fate, the butchery came just a day after the President's visit to Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of the archaic and modern forms of the hatred that resulted in yesterday and thousands of yesterdays before it. I will categorically state that while every Mohammedan is certainly not a terrorist, virtually every act of terrorism at least since 9/11/01 and before then has been perpetrated by Muslims or in the name of the ideology. And a very large percentage of the victims are Muslims themselves in the nearly 1,500 year old Shia-Sunni blood-feud. I understand practical strategic necessity in having to deal with the Saudis and others, but it is painfully obvious that Islam is not compatible with open, free societies. Its central tenets are the subjugation and/or destruction of nonbelievers no matter where they are. Certainly not all it's 1.3 billion adherents will kill and maim. But many may silently, or not so silently cheer what happened yesterday in Manchester or at best shrug their shoulders and nod their head in belief that they are the victims (sound familiar?). I think now is the time for the much vaunted moderate Muslims we've heard so much about, the ones we must nurture and gain the trust of, to make an appearance. Reformation They Much.
