Berkeley: An Autopsy
So who is to blame for the seemingly ongoing Berkeley riots? Antifa goons? Neo-nazi counter-protesters? Perhaps each had a part, but I would say the responsibility lies on the squat shoulders of this man:
Meet Jese Arreguin, elected mayor of Berkeley, progressive loon, terrorist enabler, idiot. His Twitter TL reads like a conservative parody of a progressive Twitter account. The above tweet is a good example of Arreguin's idiocy. Because what it really means is "free speech for we and not for thee." Or, even more succinctly, "Shut up." Now, you might think Arreguin knows this and is just being cynical about his preferences. But I believe the more logical explanation is that he's dumb as a bag of nails.
What it boils down to is that the rioting that happened this weekend, as well as the previous riots, occurred because Arreguin wanted them to. After all, it was his peeps that were rioting, and the people they were punching, beating, and pepper-spraying, i.e. Trump supporters, veterans, honest free-speech advocates, and other normal people, are generally not "progressive" enough for the likes of the Berkeley mayor.
It would be ludicrous to argue that he didn't know this was going to happen. Even a cursory glance at social media would have told him that the antifas were gearing up for another fight.
Now, if Arreguin was actually concerned with maintaining order in his city for *all* of its citizens and not just those who support his wack-a-doo progressive political agenda, he could have attempted to defuse the situation:
1. By attempting some kind of pre-march mediation between the two sides. This is the typically progressive (i.e. dumb) approach, and it would have accomplished precisely nothing, but would've been an indication that he was at least *trying* to prevent violence. Then he would've looked feckless, but not criminally negligent, as he does now.
-or-
2. By putting a strong LEO presence on Berkeley's streets as a deterrent and also issue a strongly-worded statement saying that violence would absolutely not be tolerated and would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
But Arreguin didn't do any of these things. What he did do was... nothing. He just sat on his fat butt and let it happen. Like the anti-Milo riots, the police made a few token arrests, not enough to actually deter the rioting, but enough to give them cover against the inevitable accusation of looking the other way while the mayor's peeps were beating down their political enemies.
The replies to the above tweet mauled Arreguin so badly that he felt compelled to follow up his dumb tweet with a lame one:
If I were a Berkeley business owner, I'd be pretty angry at this incompetent toad. In fact, I'd ask him directly "Were the police ordered to stand down, and if so, did you give that order? And if not you, then who did, and what are you going to do about it?" I'd be calling for an investigation. And actually, Mike Cernovich claimed that the "Civil Rights section of FBI has opened an investigation...for inciting riots and ordering to police to stand down", but I don't know how he knows this, perhaps he's blowing smoke. But nevertheless, it's clear by his actions that Mayor Arreguin has chosen sides to further his progressive agenda and to marginalize normal people.
Business owners and residents of Berkeley should take note. And perhaps look into hiring private security as Ann Coulter is scheduled to speak at Berkeley on April 27th.
