Jim Geraghty: The Media's Preferred Sources Say Trump Lied In Claiming Intelligence Was Captured in Yemen Raid, But Other Sources Say That's True
The sources cited as saying there were in fact computers and cellphones captured, which are currently being analyzed from intel, were reported on in the New York Times.
I wonder which of these two stories will get the widest play and the most retweets and likes from the Blue Checkmark Mafia.
Geraghty cites this as the "most intriguing" paragraph from the NYT piece:
The preliminary intelligence findings from the raid are contained in a three-page classified document presented to Mr. Mattis. The findings, some of which were first reported by The Associated Press, included new explosives developed by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, or AQAP. The group has specialized in developing nonmetallic bombs that can be inserted into body cavities to avoid detection. Other new insights concern Al Qaeda’s regional and global network, and training techniques that give clues to attacks it could carry out in the future.
I don't like that that was leaked. It might not be a Trump supporter or aide who leaked it; it could be a member of intelligence or the military just rebutting the false leaks coming from the Deep State saboteurs.
Either way: It should not have been leaked.
But the Deep State has apparently decided that it is now permissible to leak anything, or just make shit up, and that's going to have an unavoidable impact on how other people in the government act. And react.
