Anyone Know a Cure for Insomina?
I was exhausted from Shelfing all day Saturday (and doing some Kon Marie throwing out old clothes, lame books, and assorted crap) and so I went to bed kinda early for me, 1am.
I literally could not fall asleep -- until 9:30 am in the morning.
I was very tired yesterday so I took my sleeping stuff (tryptophan, melatonin, theanine) at 11:30 and went to bed at 12:30. I could not fall asleep until five, and then only with the assistance of Tylenol PM (which wipes me out the next day, a chemical hangover).
The only thing that worked both times was turning on the TV, which keeps my attention just enough that it turns off my brain, but bores me enough to make me want to sleep.
But I usually don't do that until I'm in a definite spell, and that takes about 30 minutes to work.
Anyone have any insomina cures (or at least mitigations) you can share?
I know the basics: don't have caffeine after a certain hour, use the bed only for sleep and sex, if you can't fall asleep and have begun frustrated, stop trying to sleep for a while, read a book, do something else until you feel a little tired again.
Anyone have something more?
I guess I'm asking for drug recommendations (apart from Ambien). Lying in bed unable to sleep when you're tired for eight and a half hours is maddening.
