It's Not Just #FakeNews...It's Flat Out Lying
According to this lying liar of a lying "journalist" from NBC News, one can build an AR-15 from an 80% lower without benefit of finishing the receiver. Oh, he doesn't specifically say that, but there is no mention of the machining necessary to finish the lower...no mention of the tools and jigs needed to complete the job. All you hear on the video is a split-second of a power tool, and a throw-away line about the receiver being 80% complete. But of course nobody knows what the hell that means, and without context most people will assume that it requires a screw or two to complete, not the precision machining necessary to build a functioning weapon.
Don't worry, the link is to Bearing Arms, where Bob Owens is doing yeoman's work documenting this kind of underhanded attack on the 2nd Amendment. NBC News Spreads Fear, Lies With "Ghost Gun" Fake News
Someone purchasing an unfinished lower receiver like this must first us[e] machine tools or a CNC machine like the Ghost Gunner II to drill and mill out the fire control group cavity and selector switch holes. If you do not, you simply have a hunk of metal in the outline of a lower receiver that cannot accept a trigger or a hammer or a selector switch, and cannot possibly be fired. This takes time, specialized tools, and knowledge to complete. I know. I've put in the time to mill three of them, one of which had to be scrapped because I did it wrong.
Off topic, but if he had to trash one of the three he made, then my bold plans to build a couple of AR-15s from 80% lowers might have to be reevaluated....
