The NY Times: All The News That Fits The Narrative, Especially The Anti-Israel Narrative
The New York Times Magazine published an article recently about a "refugee camp" in what they call "East Jerusalem," which is a thinly veiled suggestion that it isn't really a part of Jerusalam. This is SOP for the magazine, which is the propaganda organ of choice for long-form disinformation that wouldn't fit in the daily newspaper.
There is just one problem; only about half of those people -- 12,500 -- are even considered refugees by UNRWA. The rest are Arabs who have moved to the small city called Shuafat (it's not a camp...it has a shopping mall) to avoid the high cost of rent in other areas. Over half of the residents of UNRWA's Shuafat camp aren't even considered refugees by UNRWA Don't worry, that link goes to a fine blog called "Elder of Ziyon," which goes into some interesting and damning detail about the factual inaccuracies and omissions in the article. Chief among them is the conspicuous absence of any explanation why the author was there in the first place. Shockingly, she was invited by an organization that is overtly anti-Israel.
There's more, but it is an excellent example of news that is carefully manipulated to satisfy the leftist agenda: the delegitimization of the state of Israel and the elevation of the territorial aspirations of terrorist groups above the legitimate existence of a sovereign state.
