Rutgers AD apologizes for beer incident at tailgate party, except...it wasn't an "incident," it was a beer. A single beer, consumed at a pre-game event by an adult. That event was sponsored by the school that employs him.

Ace writes occasionally about the scolds of the world, who want nothing more than to correct the behavior of those who are not rigidly adhering to codes of behavior as defined by these scolds.

The appropriate response from the AD would be to laugh and say, "We have a world-class university; even the beer we serve at legal, school-sponsored events is great!"

Instead we get this:

"My first concern is always for the safety and well-being of our students,'' Hobbs told NJ.com. "Anyone who was at the [student tailgate] Saturday knows that I was acting to ensure that. "I regret that any action on my part can be interpreted as promoting the use of alcohol. That was certainly not my intention.''

Man up, you panty-waisted little worm. Fight back against the scolds of the world, because they are also coming for other, more important things in your life.

Like contact sports.

You know...football. The sport that makes your inflated salary a reality.
