Trump's Speech on Immigration and Terrorism
On FoxNow. I've come in late but rewound to watch it. Richard Grennell says it's very good. I'll do some commentary for those of you not watching.
Oh, enjoy this Obituary for Hillary Clinton's campaign now running at... the Huffington Post.
Link to actual article here, if you want to click to HuffPo.
Reaction: "As your president, I will defend our values and speak out against those who assault our values in any way, shape or form."
Overall, the speech is a useful reminding of all the terrorist attacks, in the US and Europe, in the past year. He castigates Hillary as "the most open borders candidate" to ever seek the presidency. (Which is true, even as regards Obama -- Obama ran as a stealth open borders candidate; Hillary has promised Jorge Ramos at the Univision debate to deport no one at all, no one, except for murderers and other very serious felons.)
Trump has improved his speechifying. Here's how he does it now: Now he mostly reads from the teleprompter. The speech on the teleprompter is generally strong and accurate.
Occasionally, had ad-libs -- and you know he loves to ad-lib -- but he's keeping these ad-libs anodyne and positive. Stuff like "Boy, is this the greatest country on earth or what?"
I think this satisfies his need to "go spontaneous" but he's making sure his spontaneous statements are pretty incontroversial.
Except if you're Obama and Hillary, and think the American public is generally deplorable.
"They [the media] want her to be your president so bad you can't believe it, believe me" is another non-controversial ad-lib/digression.
More: "Weakness is provocative" (actually, he used another word for "provocative," but I forget what it was) and "silence is the ultimate recruiting tool" (or words to that effect).
