NBC: Hillary Up by 4 Among Registered Voters;
CNN: Trump Up By Two Among Likely Voters
The NBC poll has Hillary up six, 48 to 42, when respondants are asked to choose just between the two candidates Trump and Hillary, and ignore the third party candidates and "No Vote" option.
But that's a completely silly way to ask the question, I'm told by #NeverTrumpers, because it's a "binary" choice which has absolutely no relationship to our physical plane of existence.
In the non-binary version of the question, Hillary is up over Trump 41 to 37 among registered voters.
CNN just did a poll (its first this season, I think) of likely voters, and it finds that Trump is up within the margin of error over Hillary,
45 to 43.
I was just talking to Dan Riehl on Friday or Saturday about this, the coming round of post-Labor Day polls. We both agreed that Trump could be up or tied in them, given that he had a good week (visit to Mexico, immigration speech, no crazy emissions from his self-destructive mouth) and that Hillary has had a bad one (FBI dump of information). Even though the FBI tried its best to act like the Law Enforcement Arm of the Democrat Party by dumping the news before a three day weekend, I figured it was still hot enough news to have some impact.
I told Dan I figured Trump could close the gap, but if he didn't -- if he couldn't get within 2 even after a good week for him and terrible one for Hillary -- then the race was all over, and it was as hopeless as many predict, and that I would just turn the blog into Ace's Intermittent Fasting Emporium.
Well, there does seem to be some hope left.
Plus, Hillary's coughing fit. That hasn't had any chance to impact any polls yet. But you have to question the fitness of a woman who has trouble with the fairly basic metabolic process of breathing.
