Thomas Jefferson and John Adams both passed on this day in 1826. They didn't get along too well, stubborn Americans that we all are, but in 1812 began reconciliation through letters (and even then they argued about aristocracy and good governance). They wrote 158 letters to one another. Adams, being Adams wrote 2x as many as Jefferson.
