Bush Releases Internal Polls, Supposedly, Showing Neck-and-Neck Race Between Cruz and Trump
Supposedly this poll, if it exists, puts it at Trump 26, Cruz 24, the rest of the field doing the lame 10-12% you'd expect.
Right Scoop calls this a "surge" for Cruz; I don't know about that. It looks (if it's real) more like Trump having much less support than public polls say. So more of a Trump Lower than Cruz Higher thing.
I also question whether this is real. Think about it: Why would Bush release this? The poll doesn't show him doing much of anything. When you step back from the poll results and unfocus your eyes like you're looking at a Magic Eye poster, the poll results literally show Jeb playing with himself, inconsequentially, not really building to a climax. Just sort of lazily batting his pud back and forth.
Here's a good reason to release the poll: Because he wants Trump to attack Cruz, which will then get Cruz to attack Trump, which will then result in votes moving to....well, Mario Rubio probably, which is where Jeb's plan breaks down.
But if you acknowledge the purpose of this poll as being to get Trump to attack Cruz, you also have to question whether or not this poll is even real.
An earlier Mystery Poll from an "organization" which is never named also claimed to show it close -- Trump 32, Cruz 26.
I kind of think the Mystery Organization there is the South Carolina Republican Party.
