Football Sunday in America! - AFC Playoffs Edition - [Niedermeyer's Dead Horse]
I'm pulling for Pittsburgh.
This is my rule: I always pull for Pittsburgh unless they are playing the Jags. Even then, I still sometimes pull for Pittsburgh.
Blame Terry Bradshaw. He bewitched me about four decades ago.
Or.... credit the Steel Curtain.
I remember Jr. High and the girls, the ones who acknowledged football at all, were gaga over Dallas. The Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, that is. They were the glamour team, kind of like New England is today. The boys and I liked the Steelers.
They were tough and gritty and fought for it. I liked that.
Perhaps it was my first taste of Classism because Dallas seemed like a bunch of prep school boys compared to boys in black and yellow. For that, I blame Tom Landry.
Ahem. Did I say "blame"?
I meant to say "credit".
I wonder what he'd think of the convicts (and should be convicts) playing in the league today. I miss the old fella.
Pretty girls? We've got 'em. Although this is one area where Pittsburgh has always fallen short. I'll see if I can make up for it.
So, Pittsburgh doesn't have a cheer squad. BUT!!! there's a ginger in the house!
Kate Mara, she of the Rooney-Mara clan, is a talented young actress and the granddaughter to both the Rooneys MARAS, of NY Giant fame, and the Maras ROONEYS, of Pittsburgh Steelers fame. Dynasties both.
Yeah, she's sporting a Giants t-shirt, but I'm sure you can forgive her for it.
Oh! Did I mention she has a sister?
