GOP Will Fight For Pause in Refugee Resettlement, Until Background Checks Are Actually Functional
As Instapundit says: a proposal from Trump moves from "crazy" to "policy" in just a month.
I have a lot of concerns about Trump, but his I-don't-care-for-respectable-opinion attitude is, even his fierce critics must admit, a wonderful thing.
Our national policy discussion has become stultified, stilted, and hyperstylized, like the rituals of disagreement among the Japanese, to the point where no one can say what they think. And the people mediating this discussion-- deciding what is permissible, what is impermissible, and what is so impermissible it warrants the full power of social destruction -- are all of the hard left.
No one can or should agree to play a game by rules which are explicitly designed to cause his losing everything, always.
We've become too polite, too politic, and too protective of our status position within the left's hierarchy of morals and ethics conferring social standing.
Even Mark Kirk: @Tsrblke points out that Mark Kirk, a very RINOy RINO from Illinois, is spearheading this.
